ROW or Not ??

Porsche 911 Carrera Targa | eBay

Looks like an ROW car. The only shot of a VIN tag is a close up and could be from any car, also looks like over-spray on the edges of the VIN tag. Supposed no paint work no accident car. Carfax says accident back in 89 but as we all know Carfax is not the bible.

Thoughts? I am not a buyer just threw up some red flags for me.

It's not ROW nor are they advertising it that way

Why would you have a Targa in a private Porsche museum?? It is just a Targa after all.

According to the VIN they give its clearly not an ROW car. With the side markers in the front quarters, the rear fog and the corner lenses its just looks like an ROW. Just wondering

It will be interesting to see where this car sells.

Over $30k with 4 days to go, no reserve, and the seller seems to be committed to completing the auction.

Apart from the Fuchs reproductions, it looks very well sorted. I like the brown carpets -- I wonder if they are original.

Low miles, but not trailer queen miles. I didn't see any mention of an engine rebuild. A/C has been converted.

A Targa, and a "standard" color -- so no unusual factors to skew the value. It will be a nice data point for the market.

Why do most guys on this forum value a Targa at less than a Coupe? It seems to me both are on the same page just depends on what the buyer wants..

It isn't just "guys on this forum" -- the overall market currently values coupes over targas or cabs.

Some of it is aesthetics -- coupes are cleaner looking. Some is driving dynamics -- they are stiffer, and flex less under hard driving. However, in a car with marginal A/C, coupes can be a trial in the warmer parts of the country.

Depending on your perspective, Targas are either the worst or the best of both worlds. The roll bar makes them nominally stiffer than cabs, but still provide a degree of open air driving experience.

However, the top seals are dubious at best. They leak like it is their job, and they tend to whistle and moan at speed.

Cabs are true convertibles, and are actually more weather tight (on average). They are more cruiser than racers, but still drive great. I personally love convertibles, but would have bought a targa if the price had been right. I believe that -- eventually -- cabriolet values will overtake coupes, because that is just the order of things…with a few notable exceptions.

It is funny I was under the same impression but I asked the guy through ebay and he told me to read the ad more carefully.

By the way, it is incredible the inflation on these cars, looking at the VIN I found that it was sold in 2010 for $16,900.
