Why so many targas

I'm in canada and mostly all I see is targas and cabriolets for sale very rate I see a coupe sc or 3.2
Did they make more targas or are they just less interest for targa vs coupe

At the risk of angering open car fans, coupes simply sell quicker.

Part of the explanation:

Although they generally made more Coupes per year than Targas or Cabriolets, since 1983, the combined production numbers of "open air cars" are significantly larger than the number of coupes.

So if you are an "open air car fan" (like me) you have two models to choose from -- a Targa or a Cab, representing ~60-65% of a given year's production volume.

If you want only a Coupe, you are choosing from only ~35-40% of production.

Supply and demand drives the perception of scarcity.

when i was looking for a 964 it was virtually impossible to find a coupe
autotrader.com and cars.com they were ALL targas to cabs. for months ..

It's frustrating

Because everyone is trying to be like Magnus, he doesn't have any Targas.

It's hipster to be in a coupe, join the crowd.

Apparently Singer alone has 30 964 coupes either being converted or sitting until they are ready. I think its similar at the backdate shops in Europe. No wonder they are disappearing.
