1965 911 on CL

What do we think of this? I'm an hour and a half away from it.

COLB 12-22-2014 06:51 AM

You should have bought it before you posted it....if...

...it were legit.

But you can pretty much guarantee it is not.

$8500 for an intact '65?

It screams scam.

matt930s 12-22-2014 06:53 AM

That car is bank.

Matt Monson 12-22-2014 07:03 AM

I'd drive an hour and a half to find out if it is real.

From the ad:

Quote:

Needs to be restored. Engine is there but not sure if it runs. Not much rust. I have title. Please leave number
Leave him your number -- see if he calls back.

Tell him you will drive up immediately, ready to buy.

I expect he will give you the run around about the car being in a different location (a barn somewhere), not immediately accessible, can't get to it right away, etc.

Then he will ask for a deposit to hold it -- just wire him the money and the car is yours.

If he says "sure -- come on over and look at it" -- and he gives you a legit address and local phone number -- then hop in your car and drive now. Because it will be a race.

Exactly.

Nice find.

Anyone willing to sell an intact '65 or comparable car for $8500 would be too technologically challenged to post an ad to craigslist.

Can you visualize someone capable enough to post pictures to craigslist, but can't google the car to see what it might be worth?

That is pretty much an interwebz unpossibility.

ShopCat 12-22-2014 08:03 AM

Thanks Flynt, I figured it was too good to be true.

Matt Monson 12-22-2014 08:17 AM

Flagged it.

techweenie 12-22-2014 08:33 AM

(likely) same guy posted a 65 911 for sale in the Santa Clarita Valley about 3-4 months ago for $8000.

t-tom 12-22-2014 09:25 AM

Here is his phone number and address where he says the car is. 323 557 4571 3701 edgewater dr. Oklahoma City He told me it is still sitting in the barn, even though if you google the address its a house for sale that clearly does not have a barn. Said he is showing the car today at 2PM Sharp

Flynt 12-22-2014 09:36 AM

That's the guy. That's his move.
