Spoke with the owner, has had it for about 18 months & he bought the car to sort & enjoy but has lost the enthusiasm.

He mentioned that there is an air leak as she is unsettled in the lower RPM's & makes a whirring sort of noise.

The Fuchs are reproductions but not sure who made them.

Really nice fella, easy to deal with, sounds like a solid car with some minor bits to sort out.

Me
The car is coming back to fatherland. Stopping by in Poland to get sorted out first. After reading discription i couldnt help myself calling the owner. After many emails and phone calls we sealed the international shipment. The car will arrive in november. Will keep you updated if you remind me.

As a new owner, couple or followup remarks after reading your posts
Paint job(which he did not do) was a little rough.

true, but we fixed it as possible

Engine had a wildly fluctuating idle, likely because it was missing an O2 sensor, and had some oldschool aftermarket auxiliary injector fuel management system that had been removed, but not entirely.

working on it now.

Various parts were not put back together on the car,

but all are there in boxes, well at least looks like it (exept frowindow trimm)

and it had not driven on public roads in 5 years (nor would he allow a full test drive).

The part that really scared me off was that the entire underside of the engine was wet with oil, likely from multiple sources.
Thermostate and pressure sensor. nothing big, at least we hope so
will know this week.

The only good bit was that it was a pretty solid chassis and a Euro model SC, but way too big of a project for $16k. "

Dont forget 204 HP engine, and not 180, and the gearbox and syncros seam like its true milage

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2osQKVAV0i8

It will be available on german and polish market after i put it together
(aircon, air vent, engine service leaks from top of engine)

current fotos and videos:

Looks like a little elbow grease is going to provide a nice return on investment -- even with shipping.

From the video and the pics, the paintwork appears to have polished up nicely.

Nice work.

Yes, black is super tough. Can't stand it. Unforgiving. For some reason, all the black cars find me though.

Who is doing the work in Poland? About 8-10 years ago we sold some parts and cars to a Polish workshop. They sent back pictures of their work. Incredible workmanship with hand stitched leather dashes and perfect trim work and rust repair. I have forgotten their name and wonder if it is the same place.

sugarwood, thx for noticing,
On Monday we are starting work on engine bay.
Matt, In Poland we have both great workshops and fast workshops. I am an enthusiast that cannot afford to hold on to a porsche 911 (at leas till i sell my rallye mercedes). Thats why I buy them, enjoy owning them for a while, and than sell them changing the time I spend in the evenings working on them into profit.
Im happy to drive them after I sort them out before the buyer comes.
There are time consuming things that I do personaly, undress, put together, prep, fight rust, trim, interier, easy mechanics like brake calipers, axles, shift rod shaft seals seals, ventilation, etc.
But there are things that I leave to the professionals I trust, to take care of.
Body work, welding, painting, dashboard stitching, all that needs to be done by professional that
1. Has time and is not in a hurry
2. Does it my way, under my supervison,
Of course sometimes I can be wrong, or some things cannot be done like i would like them to be, but I belive that overal, i do good job.
I have one big flaw , I talk to much, and sometimes scare of customers but then I get to drive the car a little bit longer.
This is my 3rd Porsche (has w123 mercedeses before[youtube search :Carlsson Kielce Classicauto])
The 2nd showed up to need proper bodywork, tin work, and lot of work before paintshop and selling. But I cant sell crap, couse i cant lie too good.
But 2nd has a great engine in the back with hydraulic tensioners and 67000 miles, and is going to be back to Platinum original color.

I ment we have 8% great workshops. But slow and accurate.
But 90% are fast accident repair that dont care about doing good but doing fast only new cars and lots of bondo
And maybe 2% fast and good quality and very expensive.
i dont have experience with the 2%.
I avoid 90%.
I work with 8 percent that dont concidder time to be a factor. It has upsides and downsides. But if you guide them the result can be very good.

I misunderstood. We have lots of pretty good shops here, just not fast and great ones all under one roof. Car looks good though.

As they say in government acquisition:

1. Good
2. Fast
3. Cheap

Pick two of three.

I didnt find on the add that the car has at least 3 headstuds broken (I took only one valve cover off) so after finding the surprise, I took out the engine and a full top end rebuild with 24 studs replacement is ongoing operation now.

Soprry to hear that Erio.

Some of my best times with the old cars is working on them - I know that you would rather be without the broken studs, but at least you know what you have when you are done, and you will have obtained new skills - not too bad.

Good luck and Merry Christmas,

Christian
