Help me set a asking price for 79 930
This is an experiment to solicit valuation opinions on a car I am going to list for sale in the near future. I follow market for 930 as close as anybody so I have my on own opinions. I own a 1979 930 31k miles, a very nice driver not a pristine garage queen. Mocha Brown over tan leather. Have correct radio, tool kit, spare compressor. A/C compressor (none of these parts are currently installed). New turbo, recent oil leak repairs. Late VIN car w/ correct 85 MPH speedo. Some service records but not all - California car has been in Cali, New Mexico and Montana. I want to list car at or near where I think it will sell. Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom. I'll post more pics once car has been fully detailed. I want to stress, this is NOT a for sale ad. I want to gain the collective wisdom of the pelican BBS.

Been repainted once - good paint but not excellent, like the entire car. This one is still stock except for Euro exhaust.

That's a tough one Phil. Low miles, unusual color, late VIN turbo. I'd guess between $110k-$125k.

Low would be $85k High would be 95k. Your car could be 100k with the missing parts put right. I say this because it looks like your AC is missing? Your car will be worth more than other 930s in similar condition due to the color combo of your car.

Tony,
I have A/C compressor as well as correct C/R radio and speaker grilles for doors. I can easily re-install A/C compressor. I will probably leave radio alone as the one installed works really well. I appreciate everyone's input. So $85k seems to low and $125k seems too high, some where in between seems about right. Phil |

That brown/tan interior is questionable. I'd have a hard time looking at it every weekend.
These cars were $40k year 2 years ago dealer priced. What happened? ($40k for a clean one) Com |

And 2 years from now this car will be worth considerably more than it is today. The 930 is now a collector car. It is amazing how many people don't know the current market.

Unusual color combos often get higher sale prices. Browns are popular right now, so they might have a premium currently, and in a few years, not so much. Even so, this car, if returned to stock form, would certainly be a $100k car.

As to what to ask for it.... I vote for $687,000.05. Maybe a tad over market but those 2 years will fly by! Besides, everyone knows that collector car values only go up, right?

Guys not worried about 2 years from now- I am not one of those that buys into the philosophy - you can't over pay you can only buy too soon. So at this point seems like we (I) have settled on $90-95k range as an asking price.
Thanks, Phil |

You need better pictures and more of them to sell a 80k car.
