This would make for a great base for a singer upgrade....

I wouldnít waste all the money on making it a Singer. I would send it to Jeff Gamroth for a an engine and gearbox, ala what he does for Gunterwerks. And just go through the whole car minus all the carbon fiber. Build a sleeper. and have $300-400k leftover when itís done.

Yeah Iím not a fan of all the carbon at all. I prefer aluminum where at all possible. What besides a Gamroth drivetrain would you do?

All the standard underpinnings, gt2 front arms, JRZ coil overs, big brakes, some BBS, etc. no bolt unturned. No bushing left unreplaced kind of approach.

What cosmetic form would all of this be in?

934/GT2 Evo type look. Retain the Cup car white. Rivet on flares. Nothing huge, just around 964 turbo width. RS38 rear wing. But keep it a 964. No backdate.

not really. It’s more of a Carrera RS. There are 964 Cups around if that’s what you want. I’ve got two friends who have them, and still race them. But of course you can’t take a cup car on the street. And with all the money I would save not sending it to Singer I could buy a real 964 Cup to go with it.

Either way these are quite rare and people want them. I expect this to fetch close to $400k or more. I know most of the owners chiming in on that auction who have a decent number of them combined. They are the ultimate 964 for the street*or track. I am glad to hear I will be seeing one again on the track after years of absence next year. Although instead of me chasing him in my C2 I should be waving good by when my build is finished shortly.

Why can't you take a US cup car on the street? I know of several that are street driven. The Holt car is registered and driven on the street, I helped do some work on that car. I think you might be confusing these with the ROW cup cars that were imported as Race only and can not be registered for street use in the states.

Anthony, you are the confused one. You cannot register a real Cup Car. There is no such thing as a US Cup Car. There are just these cars that were slated for the cancelled Carrera Cup series. They are NOT Cup Cars.

You guys are so easily triggered. Iím not going to take this car and do anything to it...

I disagree my understanding is you are incorrect. These were basically imported RS's with all the seam welding done at the factory with some US spec DOT parts installed for import. Then the 20 converted cars by ANDIAL to cup car specs. Some reconverted back and then back again and the port cars along with Steve's red pace car. I have been inside out of ROW cup cars and these US cup cars. Just because they were never raced doesn't negate the fact that they had been slated for the race series and were converted to the same specs as the ROW cars at one point.

We have Colin and Charlie with their ROW cup cars and Bob, Rich, David, Carmelo and others with their US spec cars I believe they would disagree with you. If you talk to Rich he has a converted car that IIRC was never converted back to street guise with very low miles. It is IMO a cup car through and through just never raced and smashed up like the ROW cars.

Anthony,
You are wrong because you misunderstood my first comment. Read your first reply again, including what you quoted of me. I never said anything about a US Cup Car. I said there are Cup Cars around if you want one. I wasn’t talking about these Carrera Cup conversions in that second sentence. You cannot street register a Cup Car. Period. These are not Cup Cars. Period. You make a US Cup Car versus Row Cup Car distinction. Doesn’t exist. You’re arguing a stupid point based on misreading what I wrote.

I know exactly what these are. I’ve driven Don’s car, that was bought by a Bill Jackson and eventually Rhoda’s Scholars. It’s the one and only car that was never converted back to street trim. I’ve been over the car with a fine tooth comb. There is no way that cage ever cane back out if it.

So step back, calm down, and read my first post one more time. I very clearly say you can buy this US CarraraCup “reject” AND a real Cup Car for the price of aSinger. I know what I meant. Yes, you misunderstood that original post. You’re confused.
