Another big ticket SC

I think this is the highest priced Targa I've seen so far: https://www.pca.org/classified-ad/310763 It does sound like a very very sweet car, but $55k for a targa seems ambitious...

I'm surprised all the 'it's only original once' crowd hasn't chimed in, with their investor values and nitrogen filled garage tents. Personally, the low miles would concern me, and as my Porsche Tech says, you're doing the head studs now, or later? $55K? Not me thank you.

89 Cabrio at my local Porsche dealer for $53K with 52,000 miles Used Porsche Cars For Sale in Raleigh NC - Near Cary Durham - year=1989 Looks clean in person and the seats were redone. I was thinking for the same price I could pick up a late model Cayman...

I had a 2009 Cayman S with 18,000 miles on it. Sold it to buy the 89 911. Driving the Cayman - it was an amazing car, don't get me wrong - but every a$$hat wanted to go you at stoplights and it was like watching dollar signs as the odometer rolled. What is the fun of a car you can't drive? The PDK was an engineering marvel, but clinical - boring and the main reason I sold was the sound sucked. I figure $2 per mile in depreciation. Loved my time with it though. I paid $52,000 and sold it for $47,000 a year later - It was worth it to me - it was on my list of cars to own. The right air-cooled car though, that is a keeper.

My friend sold his 2008 Cayman last year and picked up Peter Zimmerman's red 911SC with 200,000 miles on it and does not regret making the change one bit.

The targa looks like a nice example. I dont think the market is quite there on that car. My guess is thats a mid 40's car

That green car is a nice looking car. How many KM's were on it before they swapped in the speedo that reads MPH? There looks to be a lot more overspray on the underside than I recall seeing from the factory.

Based on a thread I read here in marketplace, you apparently "can't find a 79 SC Targa for less than $30k", and that was talking about a car that had a lot more miles. So based on that logic this SC seems appropriately priced. The green euro Carrera is a very pretty car but I agree with the OP regarding overspray. Also one would think for almost $60k they should replace the ignition surround, and possibly source a more period correct radio. However if i was looking for a 3.2 I'd buy it , put it back to Eurospec and just drive the snot out of it racking up miles while I wait ten years for the market to come to me.
