Duemilaruote auction in Italy

Interesting auction in italy in a couple of weeks, operated by RM sothebys. Hundreds of cars bought by a fraudster hoarder who borrowed money from banks against his business but in reality used the cash to amass a gigantic collection. All cars offered at no reserve. A few dozen Porsches, most of them modern watercooleds, among the Ferraris, Maseratis and Alfas.

See anything there that looks interesting? The "996 GT3 RS" seems intriguing. Not that I'm bidding or anything, I mean just as an armchair market watcher.

View Lots | Classic Car Auctions | RM Sotheby's

Duemilaruote auction in Italy

Some very interesting cars

No reserve scares me.

The 1976 930 looks interesting as well as the 77 carrera 3.0.

Some very nice Ferrari's in there too.

Well heck if your going to bankrupt a company...

This is the way to do it!!

Is this CEO available for my place of work?

I think I read where you cant even drive classic cars in a lot of Italian cities now..

Emissions laws.

Not a lot of info on the cars, but the valuations seem way off. Even for this weak market. Seems like everything is up for sale right now.

Given the current value of the euro (1.09) there seems to be some bargains available.....

Lot 366 while beat looks to have a 2.7MFI motor in it for $7000 Euro.....

I think those estimates are very very indicative, placeholders almost. Plus some of those cars are very rough, and I think all of them have sat for two years unattended while the court proceeding was under way.

Prices on the older cars seem way off. Way off regardless of condition.

Price on a lot of cars look ridiculous. There is no way that 05 Carrera GT is going to sell for the 650 to 800 Euro estimate.

Some really interesting cars. I think the prices on the Jags are really low.

Crazy, crazy action on the first day of auction. I was hoping to buy this car for the estimate price, it ended up going for 65k.

1967 Porsche 911 S 2.0 | Duemila Ruote 2016 | RM Sotheby's

This run of the mill 3.2 which hasn't been started in 3 years, went for a neat EUR 75k:

1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet | Duemila Ruote 2016 | RM Sotheby's

I was! It looked like a good deal at that price. I was ready to bid up to maybe 10k. Oh well. It's an absolute feeding frenzy, hopefully everybody runs out of money after day one and there'll be some good deals tomorrow.

Eur 120k for this crummy 356 coupe:

You need to be a registered bidder...

I was hoping this one would slip through the cracks and I could pick it up for mid five digits instead it went for 130k eur.

And this one, which I liked the best of all, which I was hoping to get in the low 5 digits, sold for 105k vs 12k estimate:

I guess the reports of the death of the collector car market were greatly exaggerated-

Well those valuations were way off. But a "smart" way to attact a lot of interest.
