Bad seller protocol?

How long do I wait to out a bad seller?

I sent the guy money in June, didn't ship. In in July I bought another part and asked him to ship them together. It's now September and all I get is excuses. I paid with PayPal but I want the parts, not a refund, I don't want to track this stuff down again.

A few days ago he sends me a text and says " someone else wants the part I sold you so I'm going to exchange it for another one." I think this is totally dishonest.

I'm sick of his excuses and about ready to drive to him and wring his neck. The lil' woman is complaining constantly about the guy and him not getting the parts to me. I'm sick of her complaining and his excuses.

This guy runs a parts business, he sells here, the Samba, 914 and 356 forums. How long do I wait before I start burning his house down?

I think you've waited long enough - your conscience should be clear in that department.
Doubly so if he delayed then spent time to swap yours with someone else's.

Once, a seller with a good rep' got sick just as a buyer was about to cry foul on this site. In the end it all worked out, since folks recognized the seller - but enough's enough. And it can't be the money since you used Paypal.

I'd contact him and make clear your intentions/position and give him a deadline, then pursue a refund from Paypal (or however it is done) if there's no response, and maybe dime him out here if you're so inclined.

Your patience is much better than mine. I am not about slamming anyone, but I would at this point, say one more time to the individual why the hold up and send me what you advertised and I purchased. I did my part. If they do not come up with a solid reason then I would get my money back. Sucks to find those hard to find parts and get this kind of BS.

If they have a site for comments. I would say. I reached out and after multiple attempts they did not deliver. I wanted to do business with them, but they provided nothing but excuses and did not seem like they cared to deliver. If you want to wait 2.5+ months to possible get what you paid for feel free to try. Buyer beware

You only have a certain amount of time to file a paypal dispute to get your money back. It may be only 45 days but not sure.

No way. The part he sold to you is yours and paid for in full. He can't change this midstream unless you agree. He offered a product for a price and you accepted the terms and completed your part of the agreement with payment. He cannot change the terms now unless you consent.

But the rub is really how much you want the part(s) and how much you are willing to endure. I think once you open Pandor's box by outing him the transaction is going to turn South and you may as well get your money back because the likelihood of getting the parts is very low at that point.

Good luck.

I would have quit ordering after the first failure to deliver. You likely are outside any PayPal help. Better get on the phone soon.

Please identify the seller so none of us have to deal with this A*******.
Slander and defamation only apply if you spread false information.

How long do you need to wait until you figure out you've been played?
4 months ??
2 weeks and you should out the seller as a thief.
You've been played.

You have 180 days to file a return with Paypal. Do it today.
How rare is this part that you are so desperate to do business with him?
Does he have the matching number engine for your 356A?

And, no, when a seller suddenly responds after being called out on the internet, he is still a scumbag. In fact, that proves it.

Did you ask him why the hell he is actively selling a part you already paid for?
It's YOUR part. How the hell is there even another buyer? Is there an ad still listing it?

You said you are within driving distance? Just how far is he?

Guy is scamming you. Getting away with it encourages him to scam others.

Out him now, and either get your stuff or a refund.

Peter Johantgen

The guy is Peter Johantgen, he lives in Estes Park, Colorado. Claims to have some involvement with Black Forest Porsche in North Carolina, has shown me pictures of truckloads of parts.

I paid him first on June 22nd for a steel S bumper, then on July 28th for a driver side swb front fender. I've been waiting on these parts so I can have the whole car blasted at once. Blaster has a minimum charge.

Peter also goes by "Peter jo buzz" on other forums. When I spoke with him he didn't strike me as a scammer, I noticed he spoke very slowly so I just deduced that he was a slow moving person. The excuses have dried up "there was too much traffic, I can't get my trailer in there to send your stuff, blah blah blah...

Here on the Pelican he hasn't done much selling but here's his ID:

Lastly, here's someone else having the same problem with him on the samba:[url=http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/archive/index.php/o-t--t-558404--.html]TheSamba.com :: View topic -

I hate to trash someone like this. I really just want my parts so I can move on with my restoration. PayPal buyer protection is 180 days but I'm not that nice, if I don't get a tracking number tomorrow and my parts in the next five days I'm going to get the law involved. I wasted too much time calling him.

It sounds like you have given him every opportunity to make it right.

I just don't get why people take the time to advertise parts and then don't follow though. ****ing waste of time.

This clown is holding your parts hostage and he has the nerve to act like a smart ass?

Get your money back now and trash this idiot on all the forums. What a waste of flesh.

Oh look Peter has responded with more excuses. If he doesn't send my parts tomorrow I'm going to drive to Colorado and make certain he goes to jail.

He's a drag-ass. The loser can't even manage to drive to ship parts to a customer?
You're right - he sold'em and is making excuses.
sorry it didn't work out
