Everytime I see a car with those rivets on the seats I think how I would burn a thigh on a hot day when I come back to my car. No thanks.

^^^ I guarantee they would brand you with a shirt off.
My first car was a 67 Mustang with the Shelby Deluxe interior option. Had a stainless trim piece right in the middle of your back at shoulder blade height that was 3" X 1/2".
Being a shirtless teenager there were several times that thing dam near blistered me on our 100* days.

[QUOTE=Pfan;9888608]Re the crystal blue 911T: it was purchased new in 1971 off the showroom at Rusnik Porsche in Pasadena

"Rusnik" Picky picky, but me not being a CA resident, it is Rusnak, (see plate frame ) on this 30T light blue metallic only year available for 930 color which also was from them. It had 17K one owner miles when I got it in 2004. Now it has 33K miles.

Apparently someone thought brown was worth a premium in 1977. I doubt anyone would consider it premium worthy today. When I bought it in ‘95, brown was going for a discount. The color has grown on me.

You would be mistaken. Browns have a cult and command a bump. It's not a skittle bump but identical condition brown versus white, silver or GR and the brown sells for more.

the COA says it's "metallic". Is it? Can't tell from the photo.

As it turns out... it’s not. After Dave W’s question I did some more investigating. I wasn’t sure if the age made it look less metallic or maybe the color, or did a PO re-spray the whole car. I couldn’t find evidence of a total re-spray and looking at the original paint under the trunk carpet and other areas, I decided it wasn’t metallic. I emailed Porsche and it turns out the “Metallic” on the COA was an error. They’re sending me a new COA. Anyway, probably showing my naïveté with car paint, but I thought I should correct the record incase anyone is searching for pictures of original Porsche browns.

I should also say thank you Dave for promoting me to resolve this COA error!

I originally replied:

It is, but it’s pretty subtle. That side of the car has never been re-painted (the other side had a minor parking lot incident). The color placard says 413 instead of the “paint to sample” code, which I suppose is because Togo Brown was a 356 color in the ‘60s.

I don't think any of the '80's metallics are as cool as the earlier colors...

Good call on the greens. Leaf and golden by far the best.

So a sepia longhood sells for more then a light Ivory longhood?
That's news to me. Somebody should tell all the owners of the repainted sepia cars that.

I didn't say that. I made a general comment and you have specified longhood. The browns I see commanding extra are generally middies and SCs. Not all markets are created equal and I would agree that for whatever reason people don't really get all hot and bothered about the 72-73 browns but give them a chocolate brown or copper brown metallic 74-75 Carrera and their heart gets all aflutter over sparkly baby poop.

I don't get it either way. My white 75 that started life as copper brown metallic won't ever go back there on my watch.
