Audi RS4 1 Sec faster than Cayman

Top Gear drives the RS4. This is a fun vid with some amazing rock climbing and a very growly Audi racing up the side of a mountian in France. This one might be welcome at the next R Gruppe Corral.

top gear

Sorry no direct Cayman link other than overall lap time. Yeah, I know this probably belongs on an Audi board, but for enthusiasts, this is a pretty amazing 4 door.

Start the flame ignitors!

No flames required.

The RS series of cars have all been amazing. I don't see the RS4 as a direct competitor to the Caymen. Lap times and other measures of performance don't adequately describe the driving experience of these vehicles. All Audi's are unfortunately saddled with heavy weight. The U.S. bound RS4 will not get the nice seats much like the GT3.

Awesome video and the sound of that V8! Some of my favorite lines:

Comparing old Audi's to "turbocharged spotted dick"

"I will not be beaten by 2 adrenaline junkies who call everyone dood"

I was "stuffed comprehensively" (his bet to beat the climbers)

and finally calling the car "biblically good". 1 SEC faster than the Cayman--impressive.

Climbing is in the Verdon Gorge , France, I suspect. 2hrs on 1200 ft isn't that big of deal on a moderate climb...which that is. Lots of playing around for the camera. Oh and the climbers were using "safety" ropes the entire time. Nice base jump though.

Usual Audi... technically good, now fast car with the visual appeal of a toaster.... yawn.

Would be nice though to see that 8000 RPM V-8 stuffed in something more interesting

1200 feet in 2 hours may not be a big deal for the likes of Leo Houlding, but for the rest of us who can't pull 5.14 and free old aid lines on El Cap it is! Granted, it was a 1200 foot sport route, but still...

No doubt Leo Houlding is a great climber. Didn't say other wise. "El Nino" pretty much spells that out. No really sure that 2hrs and 6 or 7 pitches in the Gorge hamming for the camera does.

Come on..."no safety ropes" who are we kidding? No one was soloing and I'd bet it aint .12. When the Nose and Zodiac get done in under 3hrs, and by mere mortals in a day, 1200 is nice TV.

I thought the Huber bros put up El Nino? Ah, whatever. It was just cool to see my two favorite things mixed into one video.

For the record, however, there are very few mortals who can do the Nose in a day. Took my partner and I 3 days and I felt pretty damn good about myself!

Hubers did. Houlding did the second. The Verdon climb was 7a or 12+, so my hats off to them.

No matter the time frame..doing El Cap by any route is a trip

Telling me they aren't using "safety ropes" is like calling a VW bug a RSR. I should have looked up Holding before getting my panties in a twist on how hard they were climbing.

rdane-
Do you still do much climbing? I try to get out once in a while, but being a responsible adult has all but consumed my once favorite pasttime.
