I'm sorry but I am of the opinion that this is just absolutely a LUDICROUS price. $13,500 for a an R1100s with 6k miles? No. Besides the regular maintenance every bike of this age should have done, there are:

bar risers
sargent seat
rear carbon fender
painted wheels and lug nuts
painted valve covers
painted calipers
SS brake lines
clear turn signals, tail lights and running lights
ohlins
LED upgrades

That's not even a very big list. Those are just normal custom modifications for many many bikes and MANY S's. Certainly does not make the bike worth 8-9k more than it's market value at that condition and mileage without the mods. Who cares if the PO spent 8k on the mods because they don't know how to do anything themselves, that price tag should not fall on the next owner. A "custom" bike is never, ever, worth the sum of its parts. It's hard to even call this as custom bike though. If you want to see a custom R1100S, go ahead and look at Jose Barajas' carbon fiber turbo charged S. Seriously I can't believe the price on this bike because of a couple of COSMETIC modifications. Absolutely nothing has been touched performance wise, either. Yet they call it a "custom build" . . . Jesus.

Sorry for the rant but this price tag just pisses me off. That bike is worth maybe 7k IMO.

One is free to ask anything they want. Whether or not there's a buyer is another matter.
I believe most of us have seen such, or even higher degree's of wishfulness. I know I have.

I said nothing of the price as I have no clue. I just admire the bike.
And, I am 50 years old and first thing I did was take bar risers off.
Anyway, I have to say that this is a beautiful machine.

Asking prices like this always give me hope for "collectability" of the R1100S. However, they may be jumping the gun by 50 years. But, if dealers could only truly drive the price..

Then I'd sell mine for $16,000

Pretty sure that bike was listed in the BMW MOA Classifieds a few months back for $10k. I wonder if Bob's took it in trade or is selling it on consignment.

The discussion here reminds me of something similar which took place on an Alfa forum 6-7 years ago. I don’t recall all particulars but in a nutshell, seller posted a very nice early Series 2 Spider (steel bumpers) for what seemed at the time a pretty exuberant price of $14k. At that time similar Spiders would be listed at around $10k (if sellers had the balls and were willing to sit on their cars for a while), but for quicker sale most were listed at an average price of around $7-$9k. Not so minty Spiders could be had for less. There was a lot of discussion, including praises on the condition and doubt on the pricing. In the end car found a new owner. Interesting to note that the new average for the same car today is $14-$15k (almost double of what it was) and that same car would get $20k.

After that Spider sold the $10k price point for clean pre-‘75 series 2 became the norm and the mid teen price points for deserving cars weren’t raising any eyebrows any longer. Of course, Bring-a-Trailer did for resale of AR 105/115 chassis what peanut butter & jelly did for the Wonder bread.

The above is in no way justification of the sale price for this R11S but we never know what the future holds.

My personal opinion on the example we see is that it’s very overpriced. The blue wheels IMHO are gimmicky and detract from the value. I could overlook them if the asking was $6k but it’s not. Similar condition BCR will not see this sort of $$ today. For this asking I’d expect a Sub 1k mile R12S in the most desirable FACTORY color/configuration known to market.

One potential scenario is what we see here could be a set up to get the bike ready for listing on Bring-a-Trailer. If that happens, the bidders would soon discover the original asking price of $13.5k and adjust their bids. May be,maybe not.

You can't even compare those. Bill is in our fb group, and that BCR sold for 10k because it was NEVER EVEN REGISTERED! He got it at auction, and with like less than 2 or 3k miles I think? Something crazy low. Good luck finding ANY vehicle from 15+ years ago that is unregistered. You'd get to be the first owner. That's actually something people will pay for, instead of some moderate cosmetic modifications that quite frankly look grim.

Now THAT was a bike worth price tag. Zero owners, completely stock, incredibly low miles. AND, a BCR. Seriously, it was ZERO owners! Lol

Bob's is like that. I watched them list a 2010 HP2s for 2 years at 25k. I watched and waited, and bought it from them for 15 even.

A couple of adages prevail: 1) Willing Seller, Willing Buyer, and 2.) He who waits shall be rewarded. I agree with almost all of the previous posts, but it's free to ask anything, and who knows...this may be that "one in a million" guy's dream bike. Having rambled on, I bought my R1200S with more options, all original OEM parts included, similar mileage and near mint condition....for $7K. ckcarr...you're spot on...we're most definitely not Bob's target market.

Wow, $13,500? If they can get THAT for this bike then my BCR must be worth an easy $20K..... LOL

That's twice what it's worth, but I hope he gets it.
Then my BCR will be worth almost what I have in it...almost.

Nearly the same mileage, cleaner, Boxer Cup Replica, Zero owner never registered, $10k:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-bmw-r1100-s-boxer-cup/

I'll quite riding motorcycles if Bob sells that for more than 7k
