whats the mounting system like? and how weatherproof are the bags?

They are very versatile with lots of anchor points and built in bungee straps.

I hook the tail bag straps to the two screw posts that hold on the rear plastic cowling and the other two straps to the small loops on the side of the stock tail section.
It comes with a grip blanket that goes between the seat and tail bag that really holds the bag in place.

The saddle bags have a adjustable strap that goes underneath the seat and a couple of other tie straps that hook to the rear frame of the bike.
Everything is really solid and it doesn't move around.

As far as waterproof, they are like any cordura bag.
Great for water protection to a point. I'm betting a couple of days of riding in the rain though and some stuff will get wet if not in plastic bags.

If your gonna go around the world these aren't the best setup.
If you are going to go on a few trips a year, they are perfect for the price.

They are quality built and very versatile.
