BMW Roundel FS/FT: Rapid's 1200GS 'Wedding Bike' - This is gonna hurt...

I've been kickin' this around for some time...I bought another bike from an inmate who needed $$$ for his daughter's wedding, now the table has turned. My daughter got married last month and now I have to pay up as well.

The economy sucks as we all know, waa! waa! waa! Point is, it's taken most of our savings to pay the nut, so in light of good will, the love of my beautiful daughter, my wonderful new son-in-law, (and old dude practicality) I'm giving up my other love, my 2005 R1200GS.
Hate to see it go. I built this as a keeper for life but what the hell, we don't own anything in this lifetime anyways. Like so many other ADV addicts, I'm finding there probably isn't going to be any long rides for me in the near future. waa waa waa!ierce

Up front disclosure - California Salvage Title.
If that bugs ya, then pass. I have this bike fully insured through Progressive Insurance and they never flinched.
I bought the GS from inmate Berolina with 6500 miles on the clock.
He tossed it's cookies out in Mojave and the insurance company totaled it (mostly cosmetic), and then he bought it back. (I can put you in contact with him.)
Berolina had the complete front end sent out to be checked and the wheels sent out to Woody's to be checked out as well, and put the bike back together, then lost interest.

Short story is now it's mine, been completely gone through, farkled up, and has under 17K miles on it.
(I have before and after pics of the bike on request.)
I have riders I meet on the road that ask me "what part of it is salvaged?"
It's a clean machine, and has a lifetime of rides in it (under 17K!) and the miles I put on it are all on the street.
The Remus/Lennie's sprockets/FRK/Pipercross combo makes this bike run strong, as well as smooth with no flat spots.

The day I brought it home:

Today:

I'm asking $9999 (cuz that's what I need) for the bike, with bags, passenger backrest, and all the upgrades as it sits.
(I'm keeping my tankbag and my Valentine One)
I have well over $13K in this project.

OR,

I will consider deconstructing it (putting it back close to stock) and selling the farkles (seat, headers, damper,Wilbers, etc.) at a fair price, then selling the bike to cover the balance, whatever it takes to get me where I need to be. What I sell will be taken off the asking price.

OR,

I will consider part cash and interesting trades...airheads, Husky TE6's, vintage Triumphs, modern trials bikes, discreet under 30 brunettes, whattaya got?
Bottom line is, I need to create some cash flow.
Let's talk. After the (second) wedding reception September 18th I'm going to move fast on this one.

I live in SoCal, Acton to be exact.
I have receipts for everything that's ever been done to this bike since new, and a handy-dandy notebook that I keep for every bike I build.

Note that there are some farkles/upgrades I won't remove for obvious reasons (ex. Lennie's), and may not if it's not worth the hassle.

If any interest, just PM me or e-me.

Anyhow here's the 'list' with the retail prices of farkles on the bike but not necessarily coming off the bike...

$1750 Wilbers Sportline (fully adjustable) shocks set-up by Ted Porter's Beemer Shop for a 185lb rider plus gear.
$500 HyperPro RSC Steering Stabilizer
$500 FRK module/Lennie's Sprockets
$250 Remus Headers
$80 Pipercross air filter(2 weeks old)
$110 Fuzebox
$385 Sargent Seat
$210 PIAA 1100X Aux Lights
$125 LED Tailight
$110 Best Rest R1200GS Light bar
$40 BestRest Centerstand Guard
$150 Mudsling
$40 Fender Extenda
$50 Touratech Cockpit cover
$65 Touratech Cockpit cover 2
$110 Touratech Exhaust guards (2)
$45 Touratech Potentiometer guard
$35 Touratech Brake reservoir guard
$80 Touratech GPS mount adapter
$35 Touratech Brake peddle extension
$35 Touratech crossbar

etc. - RCU shelf, kaoke throttle control, 3 powerlets, PIAA bulbs, RAM mount, BMW Winglets, this and that...

Complete brake flush with new OEM pads at 7K
Complete rear-end/tranny flush with spec synth oils at 7K

New alternator belt
New front wheel bearings
New Westco battery

Saw this over on ADV. Very nice.

My wife and I had a very nice wedding in Sedona for $2-3k. Too bad most people live in the clouds when it comes to that "special day". Compared to the average you got off easy though.

If I could be happy with one bike instead of one of each I'd love to have your 1200 in my garage.

Red face Holly Crap Dawg!

If I had only seen this 12 hours ago, I'd have likely rolled in a different direction -just like the deer I hit!!! Now that I'm "comfortable" with my 11S's salvaged title, I've pulled the trigger (my wallet out) on rebuilding it. I had been looking at Hex Head S & GS sub $10,000 solutions.

I am now more familiar with how many salvaged titles we all have, after how easy it is to rack one up with simply cosmetic body damage. Absolutely beautiful Goat there.

The one that got away...

Wish you and your expanding family the very best. Let us know Rapid D when we can start callin' yah Grandpa Dawg!?

I'm Financialy Invested In Rebuilding My Salvaged 11S Now.

I new I would see a parade of pretty otherwise irresistible bikes once I made my decision in any case. I'm too far down the rebuild road now Dawg. Best to you sharing that treasure.

Cheers,
Mark S

Smile

I''m thinking $7500 sans the bags Carl.
Woody called me this morning apologizing allover his dear old self. There's still a brake rotor issue which he will mitigate, though it may cost me a some additional coin so the price could fluctuate.
I'm surprised how well the bike runs and how agile it is now that it's back to stock.

Up for ideas...trades + cash, etc...

Upgrades stil include:
Lennie's sprockets
Updated GS handguards
TT crossbar
Pipercross airfilter
Bag racks
Kaoke throttlelock

Here's a pic from yesterday all stripped down...

BMW Roundel stripper

Here she be, all stripped down 'cept for the Lennies vroom vroom sprockets.

Asking $8000/$8500 with the bags....since I just put $1050 into it having he wheels trued and brakes reone at Woody's Wheelworks.
I'm really impressed how nice and quiet, and how well this bike rails in stock trim.
WTF am I thinkin'?...

Just dropped a couple (more) hun' on getting the brakes sorted just today. All is promised by Woody's to be spot-on.

At any rate, open to tradeds + cash.

Thumbs up

New rear tire on, now they're both new. New front brakes are sorted, new Galfer pads. Now that they are bedded in, this bike handles and brakes superbly...shoulda done this stuff long ago.
