Well, that's a pretty obvious sign the bearings failed when it was spooling instead of it just seizing up after shutdown. If you are sure it had oil going to it I'd suspect either defective bearings...

Sam, unlike some cars with TMICs like a subie, as long as the engine is running there is a massive fresh air flow through the intercooler thanks to it being located in the intake path for the air...

I eventually learned through some research that the earlier 930 ring gears had a design flaw to where the tooth engagement had a bit too much clearance which would eventually lead to tooth chipping...

Make sure to take a peek to be sure that the ring gear isn't on backwards while you are in there. If there is nothing wrong with the stock starter its my guess that's what's wrong with it.

I'm assuming you found the right tranny studs in the collection of fasters I gave you? Pretty sure those didn't get lost nor used anywhere else since they are pretty large.
