I have "B " style gauge.
I will pull out the oil temp sensor extend the wires , put it in a boiling hot water turn the key on and see what the vdo gauge say. It should read 212f.

It is a US 911SC imported to Europe , high mileage car , about 200k , rebuilt engine at 186 k ( upper end) , works and runs great.

As far I understand AAR closes as the engine warms up . It stays closed when the engine is hot ( warm) and when we turn the engine off it opens again after couple of hours cooling period.
