Try swapping the 2 wires leaving the headlight...

Try swapping the 2 wires leaving the headlight bucket. (In the single tab plastic connectors)
One is running lamp wire , the other is turn signal.
And check all grounds are good.

That is the starter solenoid circuit, likely used to kill A/C when cranking. (I haven’t studied the circuit for A/C in quite a while)
Phantom voltages impressed on it could be from a bad ignition...

You will need to undo the fuse panel assembly from the fender at some point if you haven’t already.
Wiring for FP relay runs behind it. May also be useful for getting alarm wiring out.

John was lucky, he is now removing all alarm wiring from any power sources.

Not surprised you burnt it up. Connecting red to brown at the speed switch connector effectively connects power to both sides of the relay coil and the protective grounding device circuitry...

Connectors are under/behind the bumper and in the headlight bucket. If headlight wasn’t removed, then likely not connected behind the bumper.
