there is a seal on the shaft. doesn't mean it works well. but it usually takes a rain storm to cause the problem. i wonder if the black plastic cap cover holds water which then manages to wick inside.

i thought about that, ala 964 vent kit. would be nice to get some heat in there, instead of engine fan driven water laden air. but then heat would cause condensation on a cold day.

one side of the slider block obviously won't fit the old track. you carefully grind it to fit. you also need to unwind the fuzz on the entire cable or it will drag heavily.
