The price of the engine and the rev range makes some sort of non-destructive testing worth a look. Valves are subject to thermal and mechanical fatigue. It is only $100 or so.

The lower intake (the part that bolts to in the injector blocks) is aluminum. The upper intake (the part that has the bypass valve) is magnesium.

I think the OP stated that the CDI box was buzzing with key on, and stopped buzzing a short time after key off, so I think the ignition delaying relay is working, if I understood correctly.

Yes, this. Sequential is also easier on the plugs because it injects on a closed intake most of the time, which makes for better throttle response. A lot of bang for the buck.
