This steel tube is about 5/8” dia and 24” long.

You need to hold the bearing against the fingers...

You need to hold the bearing against the fingers AS you tighten the pp bolts. The bearing is then captive in the fingers.

My opinion is, your release bearing is not engaged in the pressure plate fingers. You need to hold it against the fingers as you tighten the pressure plate down.

Right now I suspect the grease...
