Do you haver the fuel line that runs from the fire wall to the filter? It's metal braided with special connectors either side.

Adding or deleting fuel isn't going to do a thing, you can have a full tank or half empty tank and your octane ratings stay the same. The higher the octane rating the better the fuel (more powerful)...
