I just spent an hour trying to re-align the window and im back at the same spot. I guess you are correct my friend: the culprit seems to be the felt liner. I will keep this project for another day!

1) detach it from the regulator
2) align and tape it at the top of the window frame
3) re-attach the regulator to the thread

Ok... I can see that being the cause of the issue. How would I go by changing the angle? Can I simply loosen the regulator bolts, play with the window angle and tighten the bolts?

thanks for the replies... yes the door was resprayed years ago but the door itself is ok and the gaps are 'acceptable' - the hinges are solid and there is no play. I will try and remove the door...
