I found that-

Blue Line is faster for High Downforce car
Red Line faster for low HP/ low Downforce car.

You must have a VERY old HANS if you could not turn your head. The tethers are probably expired. See if the sliding tethers will work on your model so you can upgrade and never have an issue...
