I think an M10 bolt 8.8 bolt ( sae grade 5 )...

I think an M10 bolt 8.8 bolt ( sae grade 5 ) would break at 55 lb ft

An M8 8.8 bolt normal torque is only 18 ft lb so 34 seems reasonable

I would vote to just re-clear the hood if the paint correction fails to produce good results. No basecoat color though. Sand with 1000 and apply some high quality clear like Standox, Glasurit or PPG...
