DME was sent to Steve Wong and was found to have defective IC chips on upper control board, which caused the no start condition. The potentially compromised traces on the upper board in the pic...

I sent out the dme for diagnosis since I don't have access to a spare. Will report back findings next week September 1983 build date so it's an early version

DME relay observations

Ignition on

DME contact #1 energizes sends power to DME

Starter engaged , cranking

Im pretty sure its the DME, in fact the car acts the same whether the DME is plugged in or not, ...

I've checked the archives but wanted to list my specific symptoms:

starter cranks engine, won't fire up
slight smell of fuel in tailpipe after cranking
12v at coil with ignition on
