With stock guides I've always had to tap them on with a hammer and no hope to get them of without destroying them.
I would glue them on somehow. You don't want them to come lose, which can happen.

You can get decent power from the stock intake with minor mods, cams, headers, no airflow meter, bigger injectors. It really dies after 6200 so I think the exhaust strangles it a bit, its quiet.

I'm just a beginner, but I would use weld thru primer and after the job spray the inside with some semi hardening cavity protection that can creep into the seams as well as protect the surfaces....
