I don't have a 930, I have a 91 964T, so I can't confirm that it doesn't have a front check valve. Since the CIS is the same, that would seem strange. But if not, oh well, one less thing to check.

Best bet is to buy the k-tronic tester and check residual pressure. If that's faulty, start with the $15 check-valve. If that's not it, then you're in for $300 for the accumulator.

I'm struggling to get the top nut off of the rear shocks on my 91 Turbo.
I've tried two vice grips on the shaft and Mapp gas and I still can't get it to budge without the shaft turning in the vice...

I hear a lot of people say this is a bad idea. You'd be better off to just go buy a 930. On the 964 boards, they suggest adding a supercharger instead.
