ive had this problem many times on higher revving "race cars" the culprit is 9 time out of 10 the breather cover, try removing the gasket and using loctite 574 in its place, should fix your problem

do yourself a favor and instead of welding buy a used set of early 944 cast manifolds....if you have it welded they will break again. the best fix is to use the cast ones....they will last forever
