Porsche Crest Reporting back

I had a long list of other things to do to the car and was finally able to drive it for a while today. How it went is a little lower in the post.

A couple notes:

Bought a pretty good fuel...

Porsche Crest Correct on both counts

I don't really know enough about the differences in the alternator mounting points for 924 and 944 cars to say the 6PK840 will be the right belt for everyone. Through trial and error I found it to...

Porsche Crest Final report for my car

The 6PK850 was also too big. Given how much slack there was I thought the 6PK845 would be too big too. As it turns out the 6PK845 is mostly used for a snowmobile and a couple other specialty uses...

Porsche Crest Good thing I asked ...

Took my wife's measuring tape for sewing. Put it around the center (at the grooves) of the two pulleys and it came back 33.25 inches which is 844.55 mm. I assume that is a 845 mm belt. Uncle Maz...

Porsche Crest Any way to be sure of belt size?

The idea looks like it will work fine but I compared the picture in the thread to my configuration and they look different. Is there a way to measure my actual belt length accurately?

Also, doing...

Mine is a '87 924S. The hoses/lines that go into the cabin on my car are steel (or whatever the hard metal they are made of) and have some bends. Since they are hard, they would need to be twisted...

Porsche Crest Wow, lots to consider

Thank you guys. I'm only taking the compressor off line until I can rebuild it for R134A and get the hoses rebuilt. The hoses that go into the cabin are a real bear and I haven't found an actual...

Porsche Crest Ancient thread but someone may know

I need to run the car without the A/C compressor for a while and would like to use the aforementioned belt (which I've bought) on the alternator. I can't really tell how to configure it to work....

Porsche Crest There is some risk in your setup ...

The micro-switches are a nice touch but they also limit the movement of the arms and motor so as not to stress out the plastic gear wheels. I switched to the URO brass wheels but I turned the clutch...

Porsche Crest That makes sense

So after you were done, the unlock, lock and raising the roof all the way all worked correctly? One hates to disparage the dead but I only wish Clark had included that step in his instructions. His...

Porsche Crest Works pretty well, not perfect

... at least I don't think it's perfect.

I installed the new micro-switches, adjusted it per Clark's instructions and all the functions work well now. The only thing I don't think is correct is...

Porsche Crest CO is retarded

Ethanol is not a fallacy, it's a fact of life for those of us who live here. The robber barons get about $.30 a gallon more for each step up. We put up with the greenies as a cross we bear for...

Porsche Crest AFM discovery

Found the AFM procedure in Clark's Garage. Terminology makes sense now. He didn't use the word trim in his description though.

Porsche Crest Haven't really driven the car for a long time

I'm frankly kind of chicken to drive it for long distances until I solve this. I'd say my longest drive was about 40 miles round trip. The flat spot is immediate upon starting and driving. It...

Porsche Crest Checked Clark's routing chart

All hoses are plugged into the correct Ys and sensors from what I can tell. I did not take each hose off and test it for leaks. That seems to be counter-indicated since the symptom only happens in...

Porsche Crest Took the battery and lower dash and glovebox out

Even though the A/C is still there, I can get a full view of the bottom of the battery tray. Turned out the lights in the garage (nearly darkroom dark) and asked my wife to shine a very bright...

I guess sharing pictures on Pelican just isn't meant to be for me. They pop right up when I look at them from my browser. I suspect it has something to do with them being in my Google...

"Books have been written on this. I would learn to troubleshoot, and buy the tools such as a multi meter, fuel/vacuum tester." doesn't read the way you see it. It says you don't know anything about...

Porsche Crest I used to look for bargain prices

My daily drivers are mostly Toyota. Their product line has massive volume and there are numerous aftermarket makers. The difference in quality between genuine and knock off is ridiculous and, since...

Porsche Crest Able to source the hose

Sourced the missing hose that goes into the tank and viola the washer system now works. Too bad the PET didn't show there was a hose there.
I could have avoided being such a bother for you guys....

Porsche Crest Close but no cigar

The URO wiper control part was in fact similar but not the same. I tried to upload the images but I can never get it to work on Pelican. The arm was longer and at a different angle, there were only...

Porsche Crest Hopefully it won't be for a long, long time

I opted for Genuine Porsche. Everything I found in my research is the aftermarket parts companies really skimp on the materials, specifically the thickness and quality of the rubber in the motor...
