CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) does not replace the points, the points are a trigger that fires off the CDI. So you need both. Highly recommend you ditch the points for a breakerless ignition...

If in doubt, replace all the fuel lines. It's not very difficult or expensive and gives nice peace of mind. If its the fuel pump, that's going to be stupid expensive (unobtanium).

I would run a can of Techron or something similar through it now. Prob sucked dirt out of the fuel filter and into the engine / injectors.

Its a common mistake. Did it myself once.
