Question Can I use 1/2" wheel spacers on front hubs?

I just discoverd that my Boyds wheels will not fit on my '74 914. The center hole in the wheel is too small. It appears that it needs a spacer about 3/8" or 1/2" to clear. Will this adversely effect...
