OK, so as the title suggests I connected the positive and negative terminals the wrong way when putting in a new battery and I have broken something. I feel like a fool and the bills are mounting.......

Thanks all. I already replaced the coolant cap. Will bleed radiator and do a general check while motor is out, then do the recommended checks when the new motor goes back in.

Either Conrod/piston or bearing.
Good chance it is not economic to rebuild so may need another motor. Problem is that I might as well rebuild the new motor otherwise...

Replaced rear shocks and front strut inserts with Koni adjustables. Those 17mm bolts at the bottom of the front struts were a pain but got them off in the end.

Windscreen washer system

So washer system wasn't working...
Pulled out the washer water tank, fixed holes and cracks around one of the fixing lugs.
Bought a new washer motor, put it back together, nothing.
