as Tippy said ..do not worry too much clean the area, apply 574 in my case i only would put it on one half of the case .The reason is if you do not know how much to apply it is possible you would use...

hi boys....many times the problem to adjust the clearance is that somebody before you has tightened the nut too much and slightly strip the thread..then you have problem holding the screw so it does...

If you look on your PET it is written it takes "3"

Hi Phil..all 911 from 1974-89 have these 3 plugs under the dash -same..taking you have RHD it is a little different but most likely it is unplugged..also as Dennis said check his suggestions...

Just an idea..is it heat related? Do you have an aftermarket alarm?If yes there is a possibility that there is a relay in the system and that goes bad after warming up...
