85.5 944 starting problem
I and mechanic have been fighting this problem for a long time. Had a previous post regarding this and tried some of suggestions but no luck. We have replaced computer with a factoty rebuilt, original could not be fixed. New DME, Crank (2) switches, new fuel pump and coil.
We can force the engine to start by while cranking the starter, connecting a probe to negative post on battery and tapping the negative post on coil the engine will start and continue to run. Obviously the coil is not receiving a message to fire while starting or ???Any ideas to try or suggestions? Thanks, Dom |

you need to make sure you have 12v at the coil, key on, and cranking, the dme controls the ground trigger to fire, do you have injector pulse i would assume yes if you can trick it into firing. need to check the circuit from dme to ignition coil. could be a bad harness or wire.

Do you have the DME relay jumpered when you are able to start it with this technique?
