I know I shouldn't post this to the board, but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this one:

If I had money lying around, I would be tempted to bid on it just so I could call the "Doctor" and tell him how full of ***** he really is. I am sorry, but the way I was treated and screwed by them, I will never do business with them again, period.

Sorry, but after my last auction with the good DR. I wouldn't talk to him if he paid me.
Ok Wayne, when are you going to move in on his territory (ebay)? |

People will buy most anything.
The items that I concerned with is the "Dr Por$che" I not sure he has a Phd. Has any university extended him an honorary PHD? Next, the Porsche name refers to the family name. Hmmm, something seems a little of base. IMHO. I wonder who much Tom or Wayne could sell their advice for on Ebay??? I just cannot imagine my credit card bill if I had to pay for all the help that folks @ Pelican have offered over the years. |

I live less than 100 miles from Atlanta, but I have had no experience at all with AA. I went to the ebay site Wayne posted and read as carefully as I could. What I really wanted to detect in the description of the item being offered was some sign that this was a little bit tongue-in-cheek....you know, like a sense of humor about the whole thing. But I don't think it was anything but dead serious.
Anyway, as with the design of the 914 itself, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and business is business. If there is a winning bid on the item for sale, hopefully the winner will feel he/she got a wonderful deal, and American capitalism will have another feather to stick in its fedora. I think that, in business, whistle blowing is rarely seen as admirable, honorable, or desirable. The most recent exception to this would be Firestone/Bridgestone, and I am saying that only with the aid of 20/20 hindsight. From personal experience, I know that almost nothing evokes the urge to kill the messenger as much as "You are about to,or just have, purchased a pile of crap". I agree with an opinion above regarding the value of tech information available to all on this website. Wasn't at least one of the puposes of the internet the free exchange of information and ideas? And I'm a slow and thorough learner. Ten minutes won't give me enough info to do any job right, whether it be with Dr. Porsche or Dr. Kevorkian. |

Jake, your shop is less than 100 miles from Atlanta??? Cool, I am gonna have to visit you some time to look at those way cool engines. I live in Atlanta for the time being. There are really good mechanics here and all the Porsche ones I have talked to know about AA and only recommend them if it is the last option. In the case of the 914, it is becoming one of the few within Atlanta because a lot of the really good guys are moving away from the older cars.

I can't believe my eyes. But then, there are many crackpots out there with more money than common sense.
How about coming here to this BBS and pay nothing. Gotta hand it to George though, seeing there are many idiots out there and trying to capitalize on their stupidity. (Or laziness) Just my Dos Pesos... John ------------------ 72'914 |

Wasn't long ago they were 'auctioning off' dinner with one of 'those' guys and a ride in the 916.

It's at $32. I think that it might be just worth the look on Georges face for the $32 if I bid on it. Maybe then, I could use those ten minutes...
This is sooooo tempting.... ![]() -Wayne |

Maybe there was a glitch in your server Wayne. I just clicked on the web address in your original message and was taken to the site without a hitch. Well there was one hitch... Dr Ego.

Note the high bidder also gets the 924/944 Tech Secrets book and Factory Assembly Manual. Guess they had to throw something of real value in there.
I got to admit though, it’s a clever way to generate revenue and interest. I mean, just look at how much it’s being talked about here. |

I wonder if you can even read the tech manual. I got the .pdf version of their catalog about a year ago and the scanning job was illegible for a good portion of the catalog.
Then again, I don't really care what they sell anyway. -Hugh |

I've only been a 914 owner for about a year and a half, and ordered one of his $6.00 catalogs (Hey, it was the first site I came too on the web). In the front of the catalog he's got a little (30 pages) "Bio" about himself and his toys. His pompous, rich boy attitude was my first impression of Porsche owners, but I have since realized that (Thankfully)he's one of a kind. When I finally got around to checking out the link Wayne laid down, literally laughed so hard that my wife came to see what was going on! I wonder how his employees can keep a straight face around him
! He probably carries a picture of himself in his wallet.WHAT'S UP DOC?? AA (Absolutely Arrogant) |
