Where is the number on my motor, im not sure what its called,

the motor in my 944

was replcaed with a motor from another 944. I do not know any details on this motor, all i know is there is yellow scrap yard writing all over it.

i would like to know the year my engine is before purchasing a few tools to do some work on it.

can you guys tell me where the identification number on my motor is. thanks josh

The identification tag is on the left rear of the motor on a flat spot next to the speed/reference sensors. Look for the alpha character to determine your year, but I'm guessing you already knew that.
