There's just something interesting about a find like this. They can be costly to bring back to life, But this one looks well worth it if it could be bought right.
I looks like it has a companion in the garage, what is it? Good Luck ![]() |

I'll keep everyone informed if I can talk the owner into selling. His wife says sell it, but he bought it new and is slightly attached.

Nice find...keep us up to date. Looks amazingly intact, with lots of little things still there (plastic fuse panel cover, leather strap for tire, orig air cleaners, etc). Looks like a nice unmolested example, perfect resto candidate!

$3-$5K depending upon the rust. You can buy drivers in the $8-10K range (sold mine last year for $10K).

Here's an interesting note I just got:
Just up in front of the "63 is what looks to me from the aluminum window frames and the shape of the Cabrio top to be a 1949 VW Hebmuller. There were only 696 of these made. All buy hand, a two sweeter before Karmen started making them for VOW, because the custom coach builder of Joseph Hebmuller & sons, the factory burnt down in December 1949. There are now only 94 known to exists in a world wide registery. I I have had 3 of them, #149, #214 and #296. I sold each one for $60K restored. I could still sell more if I had them. Just wanted to let the fellow know he should investigate it first instead of the common "63 Super. Just though I would let him know. Thank you Michael Aceves, past president Vintage VW. club of America. Or some one back there could buy it to restore give them my email address at imakoiboy@msn.com I could email them photos. Or they could just buy it and sell It unrestored for $25 or more depending on condition.

You don't provide a lot of information, but here is my take. The pictures show a car of eastern US origin with some rust. Forget whether the engine or brakes are locked because that is easy to fix.
You are looking at a coupe, perhaps a Normal. It's worth a few thousand to someone who wants to break it up and sell the parts (or sell it for street price as a complete car). If the rust is really bad, it is probably worth $ 5000 because if it is a mistake, you can sell the parts for that. It looks like a driver. With a little work it will probably run just fine and you've got a 356. At this level it is worth $ 8 - $ 12k. Yes, to restore it to concour condition it may take a lot of work and dollars and if that is your aim, it might be better to pay a whole lot for a car already restored. Real restoration to "like new" is probably $ 20k to $ 30k. That is the opinion of an owner of a 62B, bought in what looks like similar condition some years ago. Rick
