Seeing as everybody is asking... I wouldn't mind it either. I'll send you a PM with my email.

Is this something we could post to a site and then draw down, instead of asking for you to push it to us?

Anyone notice that the wind noise changes?

With mine, if I take the top off then put it back on the wind noise comes from a different part of the car. It's always in the front but it can vary from side to side.

I did notice by putting clear plastic tubing oner the 3 rear pins it stops any vibration.

Just a heads up. The factory "service School targa top repair" PDF offers up some info on installing/tweeking the seals and the windows but not much if any info on tweeking or recovering the top. Its still helpful but I'm sure its not what you are all hoping for.
Dan from Cars Inc is a wealth knowledge on the subject..its also his business. After talking with him and looking at the kits he offers I began to get an understanding of the way the top goes together and that the wind noise problem stems from the front and rear webbing failing after 30 years of service.
The top is made up of a frame, with aluminum panels that form the roof. There are gaps between the panels to allow the roof to fold. On the leading and trailing edges of the panels there is some 4 or 5 inch wide heavy webbing type material that holds the panels in position and also sets the geometry of the top. The webbing runs from side to side on the front and rear edges and is folded over and glued and rivited to the tops and bottoms of the panels.
Here is one of Dan's pictures showing the aluminum panels and the gaps between them:

Over time the webbing that bridges those gaps becomes weak and no longer forms a straight leading edge. You get a fold in the webbing and then a fold in the next layer [burlap is what the factory used for the next layer, Dan has some very nice canvas-like material]. The little folds make nice little air/water leaks.
I haven't restored my top yet so I can't prove the next theory but I also think that the folds in the webbing also alter the dimensions of the top. Then to make things worse if you stretch a new skin too tightly over the weak bottom layers you actually make the top slightly smaller from side to side..so you then readjust the side seals and then raise the window frames higher until everything is out of wack!!!
There is also an issue with the windsheild seal. The factory now supplies a new seal with the mind set that one size fits all. Dan says it doesn't and to make it fit properly it needs to be shaved. He posted something awhile back on how to do that.
Anyway, my feeling is you need to get the targa top restored first and then you can begin to replace the seals if need be. I'm hoping to tackle this project soon so I will post pictures on what find and if I cure the wind noise.

I think I have sent the file to everyone who has asked, I know some emails did not go through for one reason or another.
But not to worry I found a link to where the file is stored in cyberspace

Targa Roof Repairs

That should make it easier for everyone

Rather than starting another ill fitting targa thread, I'm just going to revive this one

I've got the manual, thanks. I'm pretty sure that all my wind noise is because the seals at the corner aren't right, so the front edge of the top can't seat fully at the corners ... and is funnelling a lot of wind to the top seal. The noise gets louder when I lower the sun visor.

First suspicion is the seals coming up the side of the windshield, but those seem designed to come around the corner, so they can't really be made lower. So perhaps the seals along the sides of the top are too far forward.

Right now, the weather is nice enough (can this really be February) that I'm driving with the top off, no problem!

But I do have a question: what belongs here?

That's the center pivot at the front. Should it be another black plug like the ones at the ends? Does our host sell them?

I stopped my targa top wind noise by replacing three of the triangular clips on the leading edge.

Here's my story... When my dad owned the car, he did have the top recovered once and I think that is when the problem started. The car has also had the seal replaced when it was painted and I also replaced it after trying to trim the first one and destroyed it. With the current seal, I had tried to use a neighbors top that was the same as mine without problems and it fit perfectly on my car. Because his fit, I think something is wrong with the top itself. I have tried to adjust the top, but there is not enough room. Is it possible that the guy that recovered the top just did a lousy job? I know the center panels are a bit forward causing a gap in the center back and rides the top of the windshield a little. Whew! Any ideas are welcome.
