GT1 Replica Pics
Here is another excellent car that was at the Cal Speedfest in the Kinesis Wheels booth. I spoke to the owner for a while (he built it himself so he is obviously very talented). He basically bought the body and built the car around it. It has a tube frame chassis with 930 suspension set up with coilovers. Has midmounted smallblock V8 power. Very nice fit and finish. Car runs well and was doing parade laps both days - must be a blast to drive.
Unfortunately, the guy who made the bodywork only made like 3 sets and then stopped because he was afraid of Porsche coming after him.

Fooled me. I thought it was real.
In any case, beautifully executed.

That's cool. I would have went with Porsche power though if it were mine. There's just something about a car that looks like a Porsche and has Porsche badging on it that tells me it should have the engine too.

Very nice workmanship, I'd have to agree on using a Porsche powerplant with the car. Twin turbo anyone?

that car is awesome even if it's a kit car. it appears to have been carefully assembled, it does have incredible looking Kinesis wheels by the way.

I wouldn't call it a "kit car", there was no kit , just a body (which I'm sure needed plenty of work too). The entire chassis is a custom tube frame designed and built by the owner- the amount of work required is the same or more as building a one-off racecar. It is truly a work of art.

Any pics of the rear with the bodywork closed? I'd like to see how faithful he was to the original design. That is the best view of a GT1, IMO.

I like the Chevy V-8 powered version, tube frame, etc. This one is FG slapped onto an old SC tub. :-( Doug

The craftsmanship was flawless, even in the interior.
