Cool CanAm July 7-9 near Kamloops/Salmon Arm

There it is.
Be there or be square.

Details to follow:
We do have 10 rooms available. Right now we have more than that, but July is filling up quickly.
Please let me know if you would like me to book the block of rooms for you.
Thanks,
Dawn, Guest Services
Prestige Harbourfront Resort http://www.prestigeinn.com/locations/index.php?id=7

Hoping that Jeff will provide a map and details of the run.
No problem with people in the left lane because there is no left lane where we are going; just passing.

The area is more south of the previous meet.

Good point! As soon as the map/details are available.
In the meantime, how much interest is there by the usual suspects to visit?

I may not be one of the usual suspects, but I think my wife and can make it too (will be my first Porsche meet!). I'll book the time off now and watch for details. Salmon Arm is only 3 hours from me... it's not getting any closer than that!

Hey guys-

I'll be posting the details once Warren and I get the final stuff put together in the next couple of days.

The information is going to be VERY similar to last year's run we did, and deails of that (LAST year's run) can be found at http://porsche.jeffgrant.com ... should be the same hotel, etc.

If you're interested in pics from last year, check out:

http://pics.pca-cwr.org/main.php?g2_itemId=18

The best parts of the drive didn't have any pics, as both hands were planted FIRMLY on the steering wheel. Needless to say, the driving portion of the event was incredibly fun!

I'll keep you posted as new info comes to light.

Cool

Thanks Jeff:

Here is how I understand it:
One can either make reservations directly with the hotel:

http://www.prestigeinn.com/locations/index.php?id=7#location

Or, if booked up, chose one of the many other hotels/motels in Salmon Arm:

http://www.salmonarmhotels.worldweb.com/index.htm

The Prestige Inn would be the meeting place the night before the run for refreshments and forming groups for next mornings run.
Some might want to start early. (Yahoo!)
Others might suffer from an "electrolyte imbalance", and may want to leave later. (Poor things)
Myself, I am for a long run starting early (At least by 8:00AM)
We have to deal with ferries and if we miss one, we are sitting in the parking lot for up to an hour (Like last year)

From the hotel to the first ferry (Shelter Bay) is about 75 Minutes.
Next would be Nakusp for a short stop.
A very nice drive to the next ferry (Fauquier)
Then it gets exiting: Curves, curves, more curves.
Pack a small bucket (And some soda pop) for the passenger.
Always watch for wildlife (And cattle!)
Recovery in Vernon, then back to Salmon Arm.
Get a map of B.C. and check out the route.

Couple points: 951’s are not allowed to fly upside down and the local Police (RCMP) does not like it when you pass them at high speed. (Especially when your RD is going off; You’ll never live that one down, rdane)

Jeff is the man; he, and Warren, will put more details forward.

Make your reservations!

The Prestige Inn web site shows the weekend is not available. They still have rooms, but you have to call the hotel directly.

None of them came out... too many 928's scared them away, maybe.

Jeff,

Not sure if I'll make this trip but I just had a look at your Whistler 2005 photos and didn't see one of my favourites of a certain 935 on the run to Whistler via Pemberton...

rats -- it shows only as a black rectangle -- I'll email it to you.
Rod.

Rod-

Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but Whistler has been cancelled this year due to its proximity with Parade in Portland. (I'm assuming that's what you were referring to).

We've got some announcements forthcoming regarding future Whistler Weekends (I'm on the PCA-CWR Exec and we're just finalizing some announcements) that you might find interesting, so stay tuned on our web site.

As to my pics, they're there, but later on in the album:

http://pics.pca-cwr.org/main.php?g2_itemId=301&g2_page=18

We did the initial run into Whistler on the Friday, and it was a lot of fun, but instead of parking our cars in the Chateau for the concours on Saturday, a bunch of us took off and went to Lylloette (sp?) for lunch. That's where my favourite pics were taken. (Link above).

Ahh... this is the pic you're trying to post.

It's not in my pics because I didn't take the pic... that would be me IN the picture... that pic was actually taken by Sue Gratien.

It was Susan's camera and taken from her car giving chase to your lead, but it was taken by my son, Alex, who was Susan's passenger for the trip.

Cheers,
Rod.
