Longhood stuff preview and price check
Not much left, read on for your enjoyment
![]() I know I have not particularly liked people "fishing" around for pricing here, but my early 911 stuff is going to be for sale as soon as I get an inventory of it all. But, the main issue is this motor I have. This was planned to be the ultimate 91 octane hot rod. It's a complete 2.4 T (3R) motor with E MFI and 2.2 E pistons (high compression on the 2.4 crank) that is more or less ready to be put back together. I have the bearings and gaskets, rings, etc. The head work is yet to be done and the E cams still have to be faced and the rockers dressed for break-in because they came from different motors. The rockers are still matched to the heads and rocker shafts. I have a good pump out of a 3.0, the crank is std/std and has been set in the case and the bolts torqued. It spins nicely, so I don't see the need for a line bore. I have an aluminum pressure plate. All I need is the flywheel and rod bolts to start the short block build. The motor is complete to the original metal air box with the squirters for the metal 2.2 E stacks. All the sheet metal is there (I think) and a lot of parts have been gold cad plated. The case has been beautifully detailed and looks like a new mag case, yet nicely aged to the dark mag color. What is something like that worth? The E MFI is in top condition with a nearly new 2.2 E pump. I would think the complete MFI alone would bring 2500. However, this is why I ask. Motors are very subjective in pricing, so I really do need some input. As a favor, I will more or less abide by the consensus and NOT list this on eBay after you tell me what it's worth. This project will be available to the Pelican community until the last straw and I'll ship it anywhere in the US at your expense. Thank you very much in advance. Here's some of the stuff I've found so far. None is newer than '73 except the SC brakes unless I missed something (likely): 4 bolt axles (4) good 50 ea 2 sold stub axles with nuts and washers 50 ea sold rear hubs 50 ea. sold rear rotors (need turned, but there's meat left) 20 ea muffler (OK, not a cherry) 75 oil tank (dirty, but good, oil level sending unit and dip stick included) 100 shift rod 20 accelerator rod form tunnel) 10 a arms (not perfect, but straight) 25 ea. steering rack (good shape and clean) 75 starter (just your average unit) 60 Hi torque starter (almost new) sold front and rear window metal trim (rear is polished, not anodized) 40 ea. SWB deck lid, harness included (no grill) 200 '69-73 pass front fender, no antenna hole (some rust at bottom, I have the repair piece, will weld in for 300 total) pass door (good and clean inside) Not SWB, but I don't remember seeing the brace either 915 shifter (tight) 100 factory short shift kit sale pending 80 915 Welt short shift kit (missing a mounting spacer, I used washers) 35 Yellow H1 lights (old style lenses, chrome not perfect, extra ring that is 95%) Figure about 700 for those!! turbo valve covers (4) 1 pr. sold $80 A caliper (shouldn't I have two? ![]() M calipers (like the A, need to be rebuilt, these are cores) complete set of SC brakes, ATE grooved rotors, race pads, all excellent. Bolt on and go, track or street 500 Ignition switch, no key 100 Healdight switch 50 T tach soldand an E tach (nice face and glass, red needle-silver button) 100 ea. solid motor mounts 50 solid chain tensioners 65 collars sold Everything is sold. Except the MFI, external motor parts and the trans. It all went as a pakage except the items noted. Edit: Now the trans is sold, thanks guys! There's lots more, I'll add later with another thread. Here's the policy, if you want it and know a fair price, email me window_man AT verizon DOT net. I'm sure my PM box will get full. I don't suffer fools (actually, I hate selling stuff and said I never would), so if you low ball me, I probably won't even reply. So don't go cryin' to your mommy if you're trying to steal something from me and I don't listen. I'm as fair as they come, be the same way with me. You want pics, you email me. There are details to be dicussed about every item, I'm sure. If you email me for info, I will fully disclose what I think about the part, its conditon, etc. No disappointments allowed from me. I'm 100% on eBay and 100% here and intend to keep it that way. I'm not in this for money, I just have to empty the garage in a way that's fair to you and fair to me. Remember, I bought all this stuff from you guys. LOL One more thing, I hate shipping things and sometimes don't get it out for week. That's the way it is, you've been warned. So, none of this crap about "I paid Zeke and he didn't run full speed to his nearest shipper in the next 2 minutes." If you want it that fast, come on down, I'll give you directions. How much if I provide a flywheel and any small bits and you assemble it? Thats got to be a 8-9K ready to bolt in?
Curious what would be a safe and often useable redline for a motor like that? I would love to replace my 3.0 with a small fast reving MFI motor. I guess I would like to drive one first to see what it is like.

I sent a PM, Erik, addressing all these issues. I just wanted to point out that I do have a flywheel, but I threw the bolts away, as one should.
I have considered having this all put together by one of the guys here that has been building motors and working at one of the well known SoCal shops (well known!). I could deliver a fresh, complete engine custom built to your specs, Price would vary on what you want. The 3/4R case is not a 7R case, so I'm not trying to get rich off this. This would be a nice peppy street/ some track motor with at least the 190 HP of the lower compression 2.4 S. I need some appraisals here, guys. I spent a lot of time sourcing the 2.2 E pistons and E cams. Not to mention the other stuff like the 2.2 E mag stacks, oil pump, etc. I hate to let it go, this was my dream motor for the next "Ragamuffin." But there's another car that got in the way. ![]() |

Please don't prospect me. Anything significant is listed unless I really missed something. If you don't see it, don't waste Wayne's bandwidth. No, I don't have any euro tailights and I don't have a NOS early hood badge, OK? (I do have an early hood badge, but I'm gonna buy my own golf course with it in 10 years

Is the high-torque starter for a 901 or 915? If it fits a 915 PM me a price.
Cheers

Good Question, Jeff. It's for the 901, AFAIK. At least that's what I bought it to use on.

Milt,
I'm interested in the hi-torque starter for my 901. Can you provide the make or model number so I'll have an idea of how much to offer and its fitment. Or, do you have a price in mind? Thanks,

I'll 2nd what Matt said. A high compression 2.4E is an awesome engine. I have one in my 73 and like it so much I am building one for my 71.
Good luck with the sale.

Hi Milt,
Glad to see you have not changed in the last several years, and that you are still around. Still have to make it to Long Beach to see you. Milt's stuff is always very good condition and fairly priced; when he asks for a value on parts, he really needs your help. I have bought several items from him and have been very satisfied with all the transactions. Milt, I will be in the need of several parts which you may or may not have: complete rear brakes, rotors, half-shafts, axles, 901/911 half shaft transmission/axle attachments (forget what they are called but it is where the C/Vs attach to the transmission). Remember my project is a 914-6GT project. Get back to me if and when you have time. Steve Hurt shoguneagle@yahoo.com |

I sold all that stuff to another 914 guy. I haven't gotten any payment, but that's my fault (I think) because he needs my addy or it's in the mail (I forget which, it's on my list of things to do).
Here's a follow up on the parts: Everything is sold. Except the MFI, external motor parts and the trans. Edit: Trans sold It all went as a pakage except the items noted. The motor will be parted out; the longblock parts are all but spoken for. The MFI will be for sale complete for 2200. The trans is for sale as a "project" including enough parts to build probably a 2nd if you had an empty case. This includes several gear sets, an S and Y part of that lot. Total price for all the tranny parts is 500. That's 2 open 7:31's, BTW. Steve, I'm sure you can get the remaining 2 axles for a good price, just commit to them and one of us will get back to you. Can't sell the drive hubs out of my tranny, sorry. I need emails to do business. Click on my profile. Steve, take yours down, that's how you get all the spam and weird offers to give you a fortune from Africa. Last edited by milt; 09-17-2006 at 09:02 PM.. |
