Heres one more bout the 944s

Ok... i have a few questions about the 1987 944s .. i was told mine is "special".

Special needs .. definitely...

But anyways... i was told its one of the 100 made with the "sport package"
This info came from the Crack head that had it on his lawn infront of his crack house with a cardboard "for sale" sign on it... sold it to me so he could get out of a crack/coke related debt. The car only has 170k Kilometres (105K Miles). Paid 2500 dollars(canadian) this spring. Clean title.. etc... no problems... just want to make it better..so i rebuilding it.

but about the sport package thing... Anyone know what that means.. how do i know if its different? what am i looking for?..cause its the only one i have ever played with..so im comparing it to nothing but itself.

OH..and i have a factory code NO ONE knows.... not even porsche... already emailed them and guru's that i can get in touch with.. no one ..

wanna help?

C83

Oh and anyone know what the colour LY6Y looks like... its apparently Nile Green Metallic... never seen one in that colour .. but mine apparently was that colour once in its life... (ownership says Silver) body is Blue

Thanks again

Marcone

Well, as far as i know, "sport package" on all NA 944s means "thicker sway bars" and "koni rear struts," but those each have their own separate option codes.

what option codes are on your car? And BTW, many, MANY 944s had the "sport" option, so this guy was probably BSing you either way.

Ya.. i heard what the guy said..then read that there were only 100 SP models made.. so the storys corroborated...

These are the option codes that the car says it has... but it has more than that from what ive found out, larger sway bars etc..... and it doesnt have some of the things mentionned.. like the headlight washer... no idea where that is.. but the car doesnt have it.. OH and the car has a turbo front end(nose and foglights)..turbo control arms.
What the hell is the onboard computer... cause i dont know where to find it.. the car is also supposed to be green..but not a trace of green anywhere...a weird one this car.

018 Sport steering wheel with elevated hub
158 Radio "Monterey" - 86 "Reno" - 87
288 Headlight washer
288 996: Light washers
341 Central locking system
418 Protective side mouldings
425 Rear wiper
659 Onboard computer
946 Leather/leatherette seats

and the C83 option that doesnt exist

OH and when you run the vin (at the paint shop when i got it painted) it came up as a turbo chasis.. any idea why?

does the vin match the number printed on the battery tray? (minus the ZZZ on the battery tray)

look at your windshield wiper cleaner resevoir... down on the (as looking at it from the front of the car) right side, is there a black pump that's physically attached to the side of the bottle near the bottom? that's your headlight washer pump... it may have got hit in the front at one point, thus the different bumper, lack of light washers, and different colour paint.

You can pull like 400 lbs or fat rich girl junk outta there. That headlight washer sounds like a good start. Reminds me out stupid Benz's.

How bout that differential ars warmer. You know, for when your left chick is cooler than your right. And don't get me started on this sunroof. What the Doomkaff were they thinking.

Well, as far as your "turbo chassis" goes, it looks like you have a 944S2 there, not a 944S. The 944S2 had the Turbo body, but the 16V 3.0 liter motor (very torquey) that would be reworked and later applied to the 968. The 944S had a 16V 2.5 motor.

Well, the two 16V motors look pretty similar at first glance. THe major difference, that I know of, is that the stock airbox looks different (the 2.5 has a rectangle plastic airbox that says "16 Ventiller" on it, the 3.0 has a more metallic-looking one)... alas, you don't have the stock airbox.

I think it's safe to say that you either have a 944S2, or someone transplanted a 16V 2.5 engine into a turbo shell (which would be fairly dumb/pointless)... or someone went to a lot of expense to put the turbo bodywork on a 944S (unlikely, considering your VIN #). I personally think it's just a 944S2!
