disarm factory alarm?

I did a dumb thing a few months ago. Removed doors prior to re paint and had electric windows in down position. When I went to disconect wires I could not get to alarm switch to disconect so what do you think I did??? Yes I cut the two wires.

Now ready to move car to paint booth (I have to start it up) and drive around building. No can do!

Can I disarm this system and start it up somehow or will I have to get in and remove alarm system control module? Will car run with unplugged control module?

Thanks,
Joe

This thread might be better attached to "dumb thing you have done"

You will have to remove the alarm control unit and put a jumper accross the two #61 pins in the connector. Yes, the car will operate normally without the alarm unit.

Looks like they changed the codes on the module. On my 1980 alarm module there are two # 61 contacts.

Hey Pat,
How is da Restoration goin'!

regarding th 2#61 connections:
That's has to be the same, or else the wiring would be the same.
Only the Alarm Module would't be modifide.
I've looked at a wiringdiagram from before 1985, and one unitl 1989.
Both wiringcodes stayed the same.

So, it must be ok.

hahhahahaa...

When is the Targa finished?

Greetz

You can also add a resistor between the cut wires at the alarm switch, therefore giving the 5 volt resisted signal back to the alarm box

David,

Looking into the two connectors at the wiring harness ...

The SC alarm unit is labeled slightly different, and different pn, too:

30 ; ; E/A , MK , 61 , 61

Hn ; ; 15 , T- , 31 , K1

So, it looks like to bypass your unit you would jumper your #61 and 'A' terminals at the connector.

Joe,

To clarify what Series 900 posted ... the specific resitor to use would be 4000 Ohms to 5500 Ohms between the cut door switch wires ... that specifies alarm unit OFF! A 2000 Ohm - 3000 Ohm resistor specifies alarm unit ON!!!

I created a supplementary system to the factory alarm, utilizing off the shelf remote transmitter, added remote locking and remote activation of factory alarm this is where I used the resistors to fake the alarm key lock. I added a hidden switch to "Y" off the alarm switch in the trunk. Pretty cool features were delayed switching of the interior lighting, I seperated off the glove box light form the negative trigger of the door switches. The negative triggers of the door are needed for the alarm and therefore could not be used for delayed interior lighting. A well regarded Pcar stereo/alarm told me it could not be done. I did it. The fail safe is the hidden switch to go back to factory key switch, and not get stranded with a no start.

I'm a turtle and not a rabbit when it comes to working on the Targa. Just finished stripping the bumpers and flag mirrors. Should start Por-15 and primer soon.

Joe, I apoligize for stepping on your thread.

I know this thread is very old and probably forgotten, but I could use some help with my stock SC alarm system and this thread seamed the most useful, but I still have a couple of questions.

I am looking at the wiring diagram out of a Bentley's repair manual for the SCs. It shows 2 pins numbered 61 and they go to the alternator and Battery charge indicator. Why they go there, I don't know, but why would jumpering these as suggested, take the alarm system out of the loop.

I have not pulled everything part to get a look at the unit in my car to see if it indeed matches this schematic.

Early S Man suggested jumpering #61 and "A" terminal. Which one of the 61s and which A? Per my diagram, there is an "E/A" and a 87a.

Thanks for revisiting this old thread.

Module is on the passenger side underneath the fresh air blower. You get to it from the trunk by removing the fresh air blower.

That's what I thought but wanted to make sure...
When the alarm activates, what lights normally flash?

I have an 89 911 and the brake lights flash along with the
fog lights. Does this sound 'normal'?
