Some !@%# totalled my car.

Well last night I was going to rent a movie with my friend Christina. I’m driving down a main road in West Haven, CT and suddenly a Ford Ranger comes out of nowhere and hits my driver’s side fender and his momentum pushes my car to the right and I go UNDER a parked Acura TL I think. I push my way out of my door which I do not know how I got open because it was jammed shut when I tried to open it today and ran to go beat the living **** out of the guy who hit me. Luckily for him a crowd had already formed and stopped me from murdering him. Turns out he had a suspended license, no insurance, and plates that didn’t match. He ran a stop sign without even stopping (trying to do it California style) almost killing me in the process. Later I find out he was actually a pizza delivery boy and the pizza place switched the plates and took the pizzas and the pizza sign off the truck before the police got there. He is going to jail and I am stuck with a hurt neck and some valium. My friend Christina is going to have to take physical therapy for the slew of crashes she’s been in. This is her 6th and she is only 16 and can’t even drive yet. I did not have full collision because my car only cost 4k and I am only 17 so I could not afford it and since the driver has no freaking insurance I’m stuck suing him, the pizza place, and now I think the state for allowing him on the road. Well here are the pictures I got today. I will have more pictures of the actual crash later.

http://home.comcast.net/~thecooler/

Check out the crash pics. I might be getting the car back and parting it out. I have a brand new clutch with less then 200miles on it. The intake manifold is ****ed up but the rest of the engine is fine. I stole all the relays though ...well not stole ..took them out of my car. So make a request for the relays if you want one.

Edit: People are now calling me James Dean since he died in his Spyder by going under a car.

Wow, sadly 944s seem to be dropping like flies as of recently. Luckily they are doing a good job of protecting their owners.

Good luck on a full recovery.

Ouch! Sorry to hear your mishap. Hopefully you can get something from the guy / pizza shop. Get a good lawyer.

Porsche Crest

Wow! Suspended license, no insurance and mismatched plates... Hope you get alot of money out of this. Atleast you weren't injured anymore than that. The hood looks horrible. I think you deserve a nice 951....

Well, at least you'll have a good story for your grandchildren. And I wish I were lucky enough to have somebody total my 944, then maybe I would be able to stop fixing it every couple of weeks!

Get a lawyer. You'll have a hard time proving they knew about his lack of insurance, but if you get a good lawyer you might still come out all right. You're probably going to have to sue the pizza place. They have a responsibilty to make sure their employees have adequate insurance, and obviously he didn't.

I doubt the kid that hit you has any money. Sadly the penalties we have in place for uninsured drivers are so light that so many people are willing to take their chances and drive w/o insurance.

On the bright side - he was working for somebody who may share in the responsibility (the pizza place). Had he just been driving along, you'd be SOL.

Always a damn shame to hear about somebody getting in a wreck with their P-car!! Sorry that happened to you.

As an insurance agent, anyone who asks me for Liability coverage (no collision or comprehensive coverage) I put on Uninsured Motorist Property Damage on the policy. It costs about $15 for 6 months coverage and would pay for property damage to your car if the at fault driver was uninsured.

I would check with your agent to see if you have this coverage. If not, it's definitely worth the extra money spent!

Take Hugh's advice and get a bloodthirsty lawyer. I'm sure a nice firm would be willing to help you get a nice lawsuit with a good amount of money in your (and their) pocket.

It also saddens me to hear another VIN has been added to the RIP list of 944s Glad to hear you and your friend made out alright. Be glad that car was designed to withstand impacts that meet the speedometer.

Ouch. Bad luck, but lucky you came off relatively light. Any accident is a bummer but especially on a collectors car that cannot be replaced and unfortunately reducing the number on the road. It looks as though these cars are "better" to have an accident in than many others. Is that so? My wife always has this fear that I am likely to damage myself more than in a conventional car.

Man, that sucks.

If you are leaving the car there and not parting it out would you mind snaging the windshield washer sprayers for me next time you go over there. I need a set bad.

I have yet to hear on this board about a 944 being totaled and the driver being hurt in any serious way. Makes you feel good about the safety of these cars.

I looked at all the pics. Man, the pizza shop coming and getting the plates and signs off the car was the greatest thing that could have happened. Get an unbelievable lawyer, cause you can sue for damages + emotional distress for your hobby car being destroyed. And you have a BUSINESS to go after! I would agree with Pearldrum and treat this as an express train to a 951.

That being said, how is the seal with you hatch glass and the frame its in?

EDIT- I almost forgot, you said something about your neck killing you today?

oh, and as I was looking through theCooler's pics, what is "the modern diapering process", as written on the 11th picture from the top?

My mom will be talking to the lawyer today. She said it will probably be a very good case for us.

I will get back to all you guys who want parts when or IF I get the car back. Ill just make a new thread or something.
