Hello,
I'm attempting to replace my speedo cable. I've got the front wheel off and I have pulled back the rubber grommet from the speedometer cable connection to the wheel. From other postings I know I have to remove the 'cap' from the wheel hub to get at the speedometer cable retaining nut. Only problem is, I don't know what I'm supposed to remove on the front wheel. Do I try to remove the 'cap' (the thing seemingly held on by a small bolt and circlip)? If so, how? Can I just pry this thing off? Or do I attempt to loosen the 5 or so bolts that appear to attach the whole hub? If this is the case, how does one keep the hub from rotating while attempting to loosen the bolts? I didn't anticipate such mysteries but this is not as easy as changing the speedo on my Dad's old Hodaka Wombat. Any suggestions much appreciated! Regards, DL

Got it - Thanks FR
OK, I feel a little foolish ... the little 'nut' sticking out on the end of the cap is actually (I get it now) the end of the speedo cable!
Doh!!!!! Thanks for the string tip ... will do. Kind Regards, DL

Mission Completed
OK. My speedo cable is in and (wow!) it actually works.
Now my speedo needle lives a much quieter life - no more hopping about at any speed less than 50mph and - bonus - the noise is gone as well. Don't know what a Porsche shop would have charged me but I figure a couple hours of labor, plus mark-up on the part and the usual shop-rags and EPA charges would have brought the total to about $225. Did it here for the price of a Pelican Parts speedo cable. This is fun. Regards, DL
