When cruising down the highway “keeping up with the flow of traffic” I’d rather run across one of these versus the top two examples:

Ohh myy, that Cayenne is repulsive isn't it. My son pointed out the resemblence to the Hyundai Santa Fe. And come to think of it, he's right. Not even police lights belong!
Good day!

Fire truck actually.

Ludwisburg (LB plate) is pretty close to Stuttgart. I'd guess Porsche donated it. Seems a bit spendy for a fire dept.

Curt? I like your posts, most of them...your Targa, despite being a Targa, is a "way cool" car!

Your Cayenne may be also. But it's not my cup of tea. That's because it is a car, not an off road vehicle. I feel the same about many current Detroit, Japanese, and European offerings. These rigs never leave a paved road, therefore an illegitimate design. With the exception of snow country, 4X4 is simply a waste on paved roads. And your earlier comment about those who slam the Cayenne because they couldn't afford one? I'm sure there are more guys than myself on this board who could afford one. We just don't want one. So, have you ever considered placing your "I love my Cayenne" posts on the Cayenne forum of this board? I hope you don't think I'm picking on you alone. When a longtime (since childhood) and dear friend showed up here with a BMW sports ute, I gave him pretty much the same opinion that I'm giving you now. That is...luxury sports utes suck! It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it...no apologies.

Damn, I knew I should have snapped some photos today Paul! Gave the Pepper it's 1st real snow test. Winding gravel (yes, NON-paved ) , tree-lined, snow-covered, pot-holed backroad. The Stability Management system made me look like a hero ....... just steer and let the computer do the driving ........ Even made an 'around the outside' pass on a big burly 4X4 Chevy that was struggling to hold it's line in the bumps!!

Of course, the Laws of Physics and Common Sense do still apply ........

Good thing you didn't come upon a WRX. He would have eaten your lunch.

And such a cheap car, too.

I kinda hate to say this Curt...but isn't your pic one of a Caynenne being pulled out of too deep water by a Detroit rig? ???? To me, that says a lot. Off road? A few mph one way or the other doesn't mean krap. Neither does leather seating. Getting there does. So, in that regard? I'd rather spend the same bucks on a Hummer...

And any 4x4 ATV would have blown by both rides, and it's even cheaper. No matter how bad you are, somebody, somewhere can kick your tail...

I enjoy cegerer's posts. Keep 'em coming.

The Boxster cop car is sweeeet!!!

I like the WRX, but does it have electronic stabilty management similar to Porsche's?? If not, I'm afraid the little WRX would be nothing more than another obstacle to go around or over .......

Yeah, Paul, that's a big Amuricun 4X4 yanking that Cayenne out of the drink ........ thought ya might like that ...... heheheheeeee

And, Paul: a Hummer??????????????? Say it ain't so! The biggest bling-bling poser SUV of them all!! Or are you talking about the original version?

When I was gettting an undergraduatr degree at the University of Cincinnati, in the late 70's, there were two recent grads who had turned their Electrical Engineering senior desing product into a business. The "Escort" radar detectors. Those guys used to come back to the univeristy to run AutoX's with their toys. One of them bought a Chevy Impala police cruiser with a light bar, stuck in an old Corvette LT1 engine and mounted up some NASCAR stocker rims with Pirrelli P7's. Used to run in E street prepped, I believe, against modified Mustangs and F bodies. Wasn't really very good, but it did leave big stipes of rubber out of every turn and it was hilarious to see it run with the blue lights turned on.

Thumbs down

For the people that have one vehichle to do everything. No passion for anything is what I say. The Cayenne does everything half ass. If you all want to go off road, get a jeep or an older toyota. If you want to drive a good sports car, get an old 911. If you want to tow your boat or dunebuggy, get an old truck. If you want to drive something that can't do any one thing good, get a sport ute. Hummers included! Older is better. I have all three of the above requirements and have 3 vehichles to do them for a lot less money than the Cayenne. (930 Included). Happy trails!
