Australian made Bosch alternator

After checking my charging system, I found out the alternator is bad. I have been searching for a replacement. I have noticed the prices of alternators are way low(rebuilt) to way high(brand new with a internal regulator)
There is a Bosch alternator with an internal regulator, made in Australia. It is almost 2x the highest priced one in the magazines.
Anyone have it, is it worth the extra money?

TIA

From memory, we put one in the '89.

Does it list at around US$650? That's roughly what it cost us.

K3 in Brisbane make them. Geoff the guy who makes them is a real Porsche fan and does a quality job. He has done some work on my car and has done a top job.

With the $AU being up against the $US I am not sure on the value.

I was once approached to distribute these in the US ( based..of all things..on my Pelican Alternator/ VR repair and replace article !)...and declined.
I think AASE Bros does these in the US now...excellent piece using Bosch ( and not French or Valeo) components as did OEM.

Yep, I can vouch for what Steve said about this guy. I replaced my alternator with one of these units about 4 months ago. The guy is a real enthusiast and fitted mine for free on a Saturday morning! The unit cost about $AUD850 which I guess is about $USD650. I have had no problems and have heard many good stories about the quality of these alternators, both here and overseas.
