Congrats Jerry:

How is the top edge held on? I see the O-rings dissapeared from the upper edge!

Have you tested it in the rain or carwash? Does it get water in the airbox?

George

The top edge is held on with 2 rubber rings just as the lower edge, you can't see them in the pic. It does'nt rain here in sunny So. Cal. so i have'nt tested in the rain although i did run it through the car wash with no adverse effects.

Whats the sound like? I really like the roaring/sucking sound of loud intakes (MFI/carbs). Is yours louder than the quiet stock one?

I run one of these... It's much louder than the stock one, you can even hear it at idle. Makes quite a nice "hoovering" sound. Lots of heads turning to check out my car after I put the box on.

Eugene, i can't believe how deeply you are discounting this product, at that price they are almost a giveaway.

OK, Call me stupid (you better not!!) but after reading about a thousand threads,,,I though the airbox had to be a sealed unit or the car just wouldn't start. Ya know? Cracks? Pop-off valves? Oh mannnnnnnn!

It needs to be sealed underneath the filter, not on top of it....
In any case, both the stock and the JM Products airboxes have holes in them, so think about it.

Ok, I still need to get a CIS book, but...

This should increase the airflow correct? If so, does the mixture have to be richened or does the airflow sensor plate take care of that automatically (if it is working properly)?

And if it does increase airflow, is it enough to notice some additional ponies, or does it only seem like it has better performance because you can hear it?

Any solid data on a car before and after installation?

The air box was designed for looks and no official data has been gathered as to any gains or no gains in H.P.. In my car i think i feel a quicker throttle responce, not to be confused with more H.P. but that is just seat of the pants and could be a mind reaction to the louder sucking sound from the engine.

Now, just a crazy thought:

Make one that has a connection for a turbo outlet, solidly bolted to the airbox. Loose the fuel distributor and EFI convert (tbitz's EFI). Then put a heater core from a water cooled car in place of the air filter and you have an efficient air-water intercooler.

Just thinking crazy thoughts, sorry.

why would you need an intercooler on a NA car? The air comming in (especially from this airbox lid) would be as nearly as cool as the outside air. An intercooler would just add restriction.
