help, trans mount bolt torque-got screwed by Bentley?
Just snapped one of the two small bolts the connects the trans mount to the trans cross member. Bentley specified 80Nm for this, which is the same torque it spec'd for the large bolt. I thought it seemed odd, so I did a search on PP before torquing. Found a thread that said 56(or 58)ftlbs was correct, which is 80 Nm.
Torque spec for motor/tranny mounts Bentley's appears to be wrong and maybe I misread the thread. What's the correct torque, and what is the size and strenth of the small bolt so I can replace it. Thanks.

M8 x 16 mm long hex head cap screw, strength or property class 8.8. The correct torque for a plated screw or bolt of this size and strength class is 24 Nm or 18 ft-lbs. May I suggest you visit the below thread and then go to the M&MCC website and make yourself a copy of the fastener torque table. Then you'll have a check against errors in the manuals. Cheers, Jim
