Paul, Boy! Am I glad you are not trying to steal this post! Imagine only if you were! You must be desperate!

Cory, please email me at "ajserrano@msn.com" or call me at (562) 227-0997.

Thank you Cory!

Armando

PS: Paul, it's a matter of principals and consideration towards other fellow Pelican members...

It really doesn't matter if you've been searching for the same parts I have been for the last 10 years. It's totally irrelevant and doesn't give you or me the rights to become an "opportunist” to exploit others for personal gain.

Let's now turn the tables around; How would you like it if after you spend "your valuable time" and using "your creativity" to attract attention to yourself including but not limited to; searching and taking necessary photos, creating a website, necessary links, comments, making it easier to identify the parts "you need", essentially creating an "ad" and post for people to contact you. After ALL that, I come along and deliberately intercept a response "you received" for the parts you need? Personally, I would not even DARE to think and intercept your response and "cut to the front of the line". That is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Remember, I placed a "WTB Ad" and Cory contacted me, not you. Cory did not place a "FS Ad" to sell his parts on the classifieds, he was answering my ad. This is very simple...

I'm glad to see your follow up response (see below). I'll tell you what I'll do. I have other potential leads for the parts that you and I are looking for. If I work something out with Cory and one of the other leads also materializes, I give you my word to pass it along to you. Fair enough?

Armando

Armando, If you do a search under 906 cam boxes you will see I just inquired in the last 2 weeks. But, to be fair, go ahead and work with Cory- I will steer clear. Good luck w/ the transaction.

Cory (or anyone else who has a set) let me know if your deal falls through. Thx, paul

Sonjay, this is the photo you sent me of your Aluminum SOLEX Center-Lube Chain-Box Cam-Housings.

http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/35489568

I'm looking for the early 906 Magnesium Center-Lube Cam-Housings not the Aluminum SOLEX. Thank you for taking your time to look for the parts and emailing me the photo. If you happen to also have the 906 Magnesium covers, please let me know via email at "ajserrano@msn.com".

Thanks again Gary!

Exactly!!! Oliver, nice engine photo! By the engine mount, that must be going back into a 906. I can also tell that your Magnesium Intakes and linkage are 906. ; )

BTW, do you by chance know where I may be able to source the fiberglass engine shroud in the darker natural glass-cloth?

THX!

Oliver, thanks for the great photos. Could you email me directly at ajserrano@msn.com so we can discuss the fiberglass engine shroud and the cost?

Also was curious on the "specs" of your 906 motor as I am building a very similar engine. Is it a 2.0 liter? Do you have the 906 Crankshaft, special shoulder-bearings, etc.? What compression do you run?...

Anyway, I don't want to deviate from the "906 Magnesium Center-Lube Chain-Box Cam-Housings" and start some other topic here. I can already see which direction this "thread" can really go!

Thanks!

Armando

Shroud

You mean like this?

Third pic shows the difference in size between 906 and standard shroud.

Hello Soterik!

Is the photo of the smaller shroud for the early 906 type engines using the smaller diameter cooling fans (which I have) a factory original piece or a reproduction? If a repro, does it use the same fiberglass cloth as the Porsche factory piece?

If your 906 shroud is available for sale, what is your asking price? Take a look at these other shrouds, they appear to have a darker color glass cloth...

And I am also looking for these other pieces...

I would like to eventually source the factory original fiberglass pieces as my goal is to build a 906 engine as correct as possible...

Armando,

If I remember correctly, the unpainted covers will darken over time due to the engine heat. Therefore, I believe the two covers you are comparing only differ in heat exposure.

I'm sure you're correct and it makes sense, heat, time etc. I've heard there is a fiberglass shroud reproduction set available that looks close but sort of has a "green" tint to it. I much rather find the factory original pieces if a set does become available. In the meantime, I'll probably settle for next best which ever that may be...

Thanks!

Armando

Armando,

I had sent you an email a couple of weeks ago regarding the shrouds pictured above that I have.

Did you receive?

Eric
